辉高1819学年上学期高一第一次阶段性考试英语试题第I卷(选择题)第1部分、 阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)第一节(共15小题,每小题2分,满分30分)AAn old man went to live with his son, his daughter-in-law, and a four-year-old grandson. The old mans hands trembled, his eyesight was very poor, and he couldnt walk steadily(平稳地). The family ate together nightly at the dinner table. But the elderly grandfathers shaky hands and failing sight made eating rather difficult. Rice often dropped on the floor. The son and the daughter-in-law became angry with the old man, so they put a small table in the corner. There, the grandfather ate alone, while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner at the table.Since the grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food was served in a wooden bowl. The four-year-old son watched it all in silence. One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing with a piece of wood on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, “What are you making?” The boy answered, “Oh, I am making a little bowl for you and mama to eat your food from when I grow up.” The four-year-old son smiled and went back to work. The words struck the parents so that they were in silence. Then tears started to stream down their cheeks(脸颊). Though no word was spoken, both knew what must be done. That evening the husband took grandfathers hand and gently led him back to the family table.21Why was the old mans food served in a wooden bowl?A Because the wooden bowl was light enough.B Because the old man had broken a few bowls.C Because there was only a wooden bowl left.D Because the son and the daughter-in-law became angry with the old man.22The word “struck” in Paragraph 3 refers to_.A annoyed B worriedC scared D shocked23Why did the husband lead the old man back to the family table?A Because he realized his mistakes.B Because the old man didnt drop rice on the floor any more.C Because the old man was served in a wooden bowl.D Because a gentleman led him back to the family table.24Whats the best title of the passage?A An old man and his son B A couple and their sonC A wooden bowl D A dinner tableBSummer vacation is coming. So scientists carried on a new study of diabetes (糖尿病) patients who were given a good dose of humor for a year to prove it.Researchers divided 20 highrisk diabetic patients into two groups. Both groups were given standard diabetes medicine. Group L viewed 30 minutes of humor of their choice, while Group C,the control group, did not. This went on for a year of treatments.By two months into the study, the patients in the laughter group had lower level of the hormones epinephrine (肾上腺素),considered to cause stress, which is known to be deadly. After the 12 months,HDL cholesterol rises 26 percent in Group L but only 3 percent in Group CIn another measure,Creactive proteins,a maker of heart disease, drop 66 percent in the laughter group but only 26 percent in the control group.“The best doctors believe that there is a physical good brought about by the positive emotion, happy laughter,”said study leader Lee Berk of Loma Linda University. And other research has found that humor makes us more hopeful. Still, more study is needed,Berk said. The research by Berk found that humor can bring about similar changes in body chemistry, which was proved in the new study. The research result will be presented this month at the meeting in the US. Research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine shows that laughter causes the inner lining of blood vessels to expand, increasing blood flow in a way thought to be healthy.“Lifestyle choices have an important effect on health and these are choices which we and patients should pay attention to,rather than prevention and treatment,”Berk said in a statement this week.29Why did the scientists carry on the new research?A To find out if laughter was good to health.B To discover the best medicine to cure diabetes.C Because the number of diabetic patients is the largest in the world.D Because diabetic patients need more laughter than other patients.30After 12 months into the study,_.A Creactive proteins increase 66 percent in Group CB the level of the hormones epinephrine stays the same in both groupsC the level of the hormones epinephrine has droppedD Creactive proteins reduced 66 percent in Group L31The underlined part “HDL cholesterol” in Paragraph 3 must be _.A something bad to our health B something good to our healthC a kind of wonderful medicine D a kind of dangerous disease32In what way does laughter benefit peoples health?A Blood is made thick by laughter.B Laughter makes blood vessels thin.C Laughter increases blood pressure.D Laughter makes blood flow fast.DA Trip to the ForestOne day Bob took two of his friends into the mountains.
