四川名山县2020高考英语阅读理解(一轮)基础练习(4)阅读理解。Everyone knows about straight-A students. We see them frequently in TV situation comedies and in movies likeRevenge(复仇) of the Nerds. They get high grades, all right, but only by becoming dull laborers, their noses always stuck in a book. They are not good at social communication and look clumsy when it comes to sports. How, then, do we account for Domenica Roman or Paul Melendres? Roman is on the tennis team at Fairmont Senior High School. She also sings in the choral group, serves on the student council(学生会) and is a member of the mathematics society. For two years she has maintained As in every subject. Melendres, now a freshman at the University of New Mexico, was student-body president at Valley High School in Albuquerque. He played soccer and basketball well, exhibited at the science fair, and meanwhile worked as a reporter on a local television station. Being a speech giver at the graduation ceremony, he achieved straight As in his regular classes, plus bonus points for As in two college-level courses. How do super-achievers like Roman and Melendres do it? Brains arent the only answer. Top grades dont always go to the brightest students, declares Herbert Walberg, professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, who has conducted major studies of super-achieving students. Knowing how to make the most of your innate(天赋的) abilities counts for more. Much more. In fact, Walberg says, students with high I.Q.s sometimes dont do as well as classmates with lower I.Q.s. For them, learning comes too easily and they never find out how to get down. Hard work isnt the whole story, either. Its not how long you sit there with the books open, said one of the many A students we interviewed. Its what you do while youre sitting. Indeed, some of these students actually put in fewer hours of homework time than their lower-scoring classmates. The kids at the top of the class get there by mastering a few basic techniques that others can readily learn.1. The “nerds” can probably be _.A. dull bookworms lacking sports and social skillsB. successful top students popular with their peersC. students with certain learning difficultiesD. born leaders crazy about social activities2. What can we conclude from the first paragraph?A. Most TV programs and films are about straight-A students.B. People have unfavorable impression of straight-A students.C. Everyone knows about straight-A students from TV or films.D. Straight-A students are well admired by people in the society.3. Some students become super-achievers mainly because _.A. they are born cleverer than othersB. they worker longer hours on studyC. they make full use of their abilitiesD. they know the short cut to success4. What will be talked about after the last paragraph?A. The interviews with more students.B. The role I.Q. plays in learning well.C. The techniques to be better learners.D. The achievements top students make.5. What can we infer from the passage?A. Students neednt work hard on study any more.B. The brightest students can never get top grades.C. Top students certainly achieve all-around developments.D. Students with average I.Q.s can become super-achievers.【参考答案】15 A B C C D2020高考英语-阅读理解训练。阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项。As young Chinese increasingly forget how to write characters because they dont have to, using keyboards and touch screen technology on mobile phones is changing the trend. For Yin Liang, a 26-year-old purchasing agent at a company, his embarrassment over forgetting how to write characters has gradually disappeared since he started to use the handwriting input method on his iPhone 4 a month ago.“When you write on the touch screen, you use your finger, instead of a mouse or keyboard,” Yin says.“Actually, your finger is like a pen, writing the complicated characters that have long been spelled by pinyin, an alphabet-based input system. Whether typing on computers or texting on phones, most users in China type by phonetically (按照发音地)spelling out the sounds of the characters and the software then gives a menu of characters that fit the pronunciation, so users only need to recognize the character.Handwriting technology on a mobile phone touch screen has been around for years and became popular with the iPhone, which recognizes the input and offers a wide selection of characters.“Its efficient and accurate,” Yin says.Chinese characters are the oldest continuously used system of writing in the world, but as pinyin-based typing has become more widespread, youths have started forgetting how to write out characters. This was one of the main topics for debate at the first Cross-Straits Chinese Character Art Festival, held recently in Beijing, which attracted experts from Taiwan and the mainland.According to Zhang Zikang, president of the Culture and Art Publishing House, writing with a pen on the touch screen brings handwriting into the digital age. It is even better when you write with your finger, feeling the flow of the cursive script(草写体)and the grace and art of Chinese characters, he says.“Smart gadgets(小装置)dont take life from the square-shaped characters, instead they offer a new and advanced platform to show the charm of Chinese characters, which are always evolving,” Zhang says.26. Which way is not mentioned in the passage to input characters on the phone?A. Taking pictures. B. Using a kind of alphabet-based input system.C. Spelling out the sounds of the characters. D. Using their fingers as pens to write.27. The passage probably can be seen in a _.A. novel B. science fiction C. magazine D. fairy tale28. What does “one of the main topics for debate” in paragraph 7 refer to?A. Chinese character B. Chinese traditional artC. Iphone used by youths D. Youths forgetting how to write out characters.29. We were on the bus then. I was crying, and some people on the bus were turning around to look at me. I remember that I could not bear the thought of never hearing again the radio program for school children to which I listened every morning.I do not remember myself crying for this reason again. In fact, I think I cried very little when I was saying goodbye to my friends and relatives. When we were leaving I thought about all the places I was going to see-the strange and magical places I had known only from books and pictures. The country I was leaving never to come back was hardly in my head then. The four years that followed taught me the importance of optimism, but the idea did not come to me at once. For the first two years in New York I was really losthaving to study in three schools as a result of family moves. I did not quite know what I was or what I should be. Mother remarried, and things became even more complex for me. Some time passed before my stepfather and I got used to each other. I was often sad, and saw no end to the hard times. My responsibilities in the family increased a lot since I knew English better than everyone else at home. I wrote letters, filled out forms, translated at interviews with Immigration officers, took my grandparents to the doctor and translated there, and even discussed telephone bills with company representatives. From my experiences I have learned one important rule: almost all common troubles eventually go away! Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up, and just wait a little! I believe that my life will turn out all right, even though it will not be that easy.( ) 1.
