Structures review: my/his/her The aim of this activity is to review my, his, and her. 1) Place the five objects listed above on a table in front of the children. 2) Have five children each hold up one of the objects. Stand next to the child holding a ruler, for example, and ask the other children, “Is it his ruler or her ruler?” Repeat the question if they are unsure. 3) Repeat the procedure with the remaining five children. 4) Hold up a pen and a book of your own, and say, “This is my pen. This is my book.” 5) Have a child hold up a pen and say, “This is my pen.” Elicit from the children, “Thats his pen.” or “Thats her pen.” 6) Repeat the procedure with two other children.2. Introduce the story 1) Hold up your mask of Bobby Bear and say, “Here is a new friend. His name is Bobby Bear.” 2) Say, “Hi, Bobby!” Have the children greet Bobby in the same way.3. Talk about the storyStudent Book pages 62 and63Have the children find pages 62and63.Ask these questions about the pictures:Picture 1: “Who is at the park?”Pictures 2/3: “Who does Bobby Bear meet first?”Picture 4: “Who does Bobby Bear meet next?”Picture 5: “Who are those people under the tree?”Picture 6: “Who is Ken?”Picture 7: “Who is Kate?”Picture 8: “Who does Ken say?”Picture 9: “Is that Kens aunt?”Picture 10: “Who does Bobby show us?”4. StoryStudent Book pages 62and63 1) Say to the class, “Now were going to hear what the characters said.” Have the children look at pictures as the tape is played. 2) Play the tape again, pausing at each new picture. Have the children repeat the words before you move on to the next picture. 3) Divide the class into three groups, one for Bobby Bear, one for Tommy, and one for Ken. Play the tape one line at time. Have each group repeat the dialog for their character. 4) Choose three children to replay the dialog in front of the class. Play the tape one line at a time. Each child should repeat his or her line and act it. Go through the story.5. Listen and do a gameThis game reviews vocabulary introduced in the book. You will need the flashcards for the vocabulary being reviewed. 1) Spread all the flashcards face-up on the table. Have the children either sit or stand around the table, close enough to be able to reach and touch the flashcards. 2) Explain to the children that they are going to play a game where the teacher calls out an English word. The first child to put his or her hand on the matching flashcard wins that card. The game finishes when there are no flashcards left on the table. The winner is the child who has collected the most cards.6. Summary. 1) Summary the condensation of the period.7. Set homeworkStudent Book pages 62 and 631) Explain to the children that you want them to introduce all the characters on pages 62and63 to their families, saying, “He/She is_.”
