英文原文英语原文SandmixerAbstract:Afoundrysandmixerformixinganddispensingsilicaorgreensandandtheiradditivesthroughtheenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismhavingapluralityofopeningsinthetopcommunicatingwithafirstfeederdisposedabovetheenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismandincludingapairofopeningsinthebottom.Thefirstfeederincludesanauger-typeconveyorandasandweircommunicatingwiththemostupstreamopeninginthefirstfeeder.Afirsthopperforcontainingsilicasandandasecondhopperforcontaininggreensandaredisposedoverthefirstfeeder.Aselectivevalveisdisposedatthebottomofeachofthefirstandsecondhopperspermittingtheflowofsandthroughonlyoneofthehoppersatanytimeorpreventingtheflowofanysandfromthehoppers.Themixermayincludeadditionalfeeders,someofwhicharedisposedaboveanddownstreamfromthefirstfeeder,andothersincludingpumpsareconnectedtoapluralityoffluidsthatarefedthroughaconstantspeedmixerwherethematerialsaremixedandthemixedmaterialsdeliveredatadischargeopening.Inventors:Frankie,DonaldM.(1599GullLa.,Mound,MN,55364)Claims:1.Inafoundrysandmixerformixinganddispensingsilicaorgreensandandtheiradditives,thecombinationcomprising:(a)asupportframepivotalaboutaverticalaxisandhavingaplatformextendingradiallytherefrom;(b)anenclosureincludinganenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismextendingabovesaidplatformandhavingapluralityofopeningsinthetopoftheenclosurecommunicatingwithsaidbeltconveyormechanism;(c)firstfeedermeansdisposedaboveandatthemostupstreamlocationofsaidenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanism,saidfirstfeedermeanshavingabottomandconvergingslopingsidescommunicatingnearthebottomwithanauger-typeconveyor,andhavingapairofopeningslongitudinallyseparatedinthebottomthereoffeedingsaidbeltconveyor;(d)asandweircommunicatingwiththemostupstreamopeningofsaidpairofopeningsinsaidfirstfeedermeans,saidsandweirdisposedabovesaidlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismfordispersingsandonsaidbeltconveyormechanism;(e)afirsthopperforcontainingsilicasanddisposedovertheupstreamportionofsaidfirstfeedermeans;(f)asecondhopperforcontaininggreensanddisposeddownstreamfromsaidfirsthopperandoversaidfirstfeedermeans;(g)selectivevalvemeansdisposedatthebottomofeachofsaidfirstandsecondhopperspermittingtheflowofsandthroughonlyoneofsaidhoppersatanytimeorpreventingtheflowofanysandfromsaidhoppers;(h)andcontrolmeansoperablyconnectedtosaidselectivevalvemeansforselectingoneofsaidtwosandsorneithertobedispensedontosaidbeltconveyor.2.Thestructuresetforthinclaim1including:(i)apluralityofsecondfeedermeansdisposedabovesaidbeltconveyormechanismandatadownstreamlocationfromsaidfirstfeedermeans,eachofsaidpluralityofsecondfeedermeanshavingabottomandconvergingslopingsidescommunicatingnearthebottomwithanauger-typeconveyorandhavinganopeninginthebottomthereoffeedingsaidbeltconveyor;(j)aconstantspeedmixerdisposedonsaidplatformandarrangedtoreceivegranularandliquidmaterials,mixthematerialsanddeliverthemixedmaterialsatadischargeopening,saidbeltconveyorcommunicatingwithsaidmixer;(k)andapluralityofpumpmeansconnectedtoapluralityoffluidsandcommunicatingwithsaidmixer.Description:Thisinventionrelatestothefieldofmixersandmoreparticularlytothefieldoffoundrysandmixersformixingsilicaorgreensandandtheiradditives.BACKGROUNDOFTHEINVENTIONWhiletheartofmixingfoundrysandpersethroughamechanicalprocessisgenerallyknown,thereareattendantproblemsinattemptingtousethesameequipmentformixinggreensandanditsadditivesasgenerallymightbeusedinamixerusingsilicasandanditsadditives.Becauseoftheinherentdifferencesinthematerialstobemixedandpassedthroughthemachine,thepracticehasgenerallybeentouseseparatemachinesforeachofthedifferentfoundrysandmaterialsandprocesses.SUMMARYOFTHEINVENTIONTheembodimentsofthisimprovementinventionmakesitpossibletocombinethenecessaryequipmentintoasinglemachinetomixeithergreensandorsilicasandandtheiradditives.Variousmeanshavebeenattemptedtomixgreensandwhichrequirestheadditionofsuchothergranularanddryingredientsasfireclay,bentonite,seacoal,pitch,woodflourandthelike,alongwithanappropriatemixtureofwater.Ontheotherhand,silicasand,whichmayalsobeknownasano-bakesand,isgenerallymixedwithdrygranularmaterialssuchaschromiteandferricoxideandseveralliquidingredientswhichmayincludecertainchemicals.Becausecertaingreensandmoldsmaybebrokendownafteruseandreused,greensand,whenmixedwithsuchcomponents,providesadifferentflowpatternthanthatofsilicasand.Silicasandflowsthroughhoppersandequipmentmuchliketheflowofwaterwhereasgreensandhasadditionaladditivesandmixturesthatgenerallymakeitlumpywithattendantflowproblems.Variousmeanshavebeendevisedinthepasttomakeaslurryoftheadditivesandaddthemtothegreensandbutthemechanismdoesnotprovetobeusefulinworkingwithbothtypesofmoldingsand.OnesuchmechanismisthatdisclosedinU.S.Pat.No.3,070,858issuedtoJ.S.Beacon.Itisalsoknownthatcertainsilicasandorno-bakesandmixershavebeenavailablebutarenotoperabletorungreensandthroughthemandmixthegreensandinthemannergenerallyattributabletosilicasand.OnesuchdisclosureofamechanismofthistypeisfoundinU.S.Pat.No.3,682,448isuedtoKedzioretal.Thepresentinventionisanimprovementupo
