Further, strong support was found for a linkage between the logistics capabilities and the service quality, weak support was found for a link
4、age between the logistics capacities and the service quality by using the structural equation model. 5、ess priorities. Logistics and supply chain management SCM have become important sources of sustainable competitive advantage 1 2. Nowadays, many manufacturers and trading enterprisers are seeking to outsource their logistics activities to logistics service providers to introduce products and service
6、 innovations quality to their markets 3. A logistics service provider can be defined as a provider of logistics service that performs all or part of a client companys logistics function 4 5. This consists of at least the managing and operating of the transportation and warehousing function. In China
7、, many logistics service providers complete these processes mainly. In order to fully satisfy the increasing requirements of customers for one-stop services, many logistics service providers also provide other service such as materials management service e.g. inventory management, information-relate
8、d servicee.g. tracking and tracing, and value-added service6. In the last decade, the China has become a world-class economic developing center. Its increasing rate of GDP is more than 8 percent. At the same time, the structure of logistics service demand and supply has occurred prodigious change. F
9、rom the originating in-sourcing logistics to the present outsourcing logistics activities, according to the inadequacy statistic, there are more than seventy thousand logistics services providers have registered. There is still insufficient researches have been done to examine the service capabiliti
10、es under supply chain environment. This study fills this gap in China by examining whether there are different types of logistics service provider in term of service capabilities and service capacities, and applying the resourced-based theory to explore the relationship between logistics service cap
11、abilities and logistics service quality, focusing especially on capabilities and capacities under supply chain environment. Research Methodology The purpose of this Section is to discuss the research hypotheses, research design, and method of analysis used in the study. This section provides details
12、 for the research setting, methods to be employed, and the data collection procedures. In order to examine if there are different types of logistics service providers and discuss the relationship between the logistics service abilities and the service quality, a survey questionnaire to collect infor
13、mation form logistics service providers in China.We identified a total of 500 logistics service providers from the member list, and from a list of China Purchasing and Warehousing Association. Types of companies represented included traditional freight enterprisers, warehouse enterprisers, and compr
14、ehensive logistics service enterprisers. A questionnaire was mailed either to the president or logistics management of each firm. The initial mailing contained a cover letter, survey and postage-paid return envelop. A second mailing identical in content to the initial one was sent to the non-respond
15、ents. Of the 75 total questionnaires returned. Seven were dropped because of insufficient data. The final analysis was performed with the remaining 68 surveys. The total response rate was therefore 13.6 0 o 68/500. While the response rate is relatively low, it compares well with response rates of ot
16、her surveys. 18、g the different logistics services that are generally expected of a comprehensive logistics service provider. Respondents were asked to indicate their level of logistics abilities with each item, where 1 represented very low abilities and 5 represented very high abilities. Table.2 summarizes the sur

The overarching purpose of this research was to examine the type characteristic of logistics service provider in China, and to provide an intermediate step in supported. The research reported here confirms that logistics capacity and logistics capability in an i
21、ndustrial service system affect logistics service quality. Logistics service providers that establish excellence in logistics capability engender high levels of service quality. Although this allow the providers to contribute value by performing basic operational service elements-on-time delivery, o
22、rder fill, etc. -better than competitor. These firms, however, often discover that effectiveness in basic logistics capacity is easily copied by competition. In China, as the increasing of economic, there are many logistics service providers, but the ability difference between them is relatively sma
23、ller, especial the logistics capability. Low level logistics capacity repeat establishment leads to severity price competition and low service quality. understanding the complex relationship between logistics ability and service quality by examining the individual effects of logistics capacity and l
24、ogistics capability on logistics service quality. Various statistics analyses confirmed that there are three different types of logistics service providers that they have varying levels of logistics capacity and logistics capability. From a research perspective, understanding the types of logistics
25、service providers in terms of logistics ability opens up new avenues to develop theories about of logistics service providers. It is useful for the researcher to study the logistics service ability under the supply chain environment. From the managerial standpoint, the results of the study show that
26、 the logistics capacities and the logistics capabilities have the different effect on service quality. As a manager of the logistics service provider, he should make effort to improve the firms logistics capabilities. Two important study limitations should be highlighted. First, this studys sample w
27、as drawn form the logistics service providers in China and the sample is relativity smaller. Therefore, the conclusions can only be generalized to the population of logistics service providers in China. Second, all participants responded within a particular time frame and were only given a signal op
28、portunity to respond. Therefore, it cannot be reliably established whether such data would hold true over time, especially in an unstable business environment. Future research, however, is needed to determine whether this concept model has more global application. Future research may also be conduct
