6、ndship? Teaching tips:Teachers are expected to make students understand the definition of friendship and types of friends given by Wikipedia. Ask students to find the keys words in the definition and summarize the categories of friendship. Remind students that the definition is uncertain. Encourage

7、students to define “friendship” in theirs own words.Some examples are as follows:² Best friend (or close friend): a person(s) with whom someone shares extremely strong interpersonal ties with as a friend.² Acquaintance: a friend, but sharing of emotional ties isn't present. A

8、n example would be a coworker with whom you enjoy eating lunch or having coffee, but would not look to for emotional support.² Buddy: In the USA, guys often refer to each other as 'buddies', for example, introducing a male friend as their 'buddy', or a circle of male f

9、riends as 'buddies'.² Soulmate: the name given to someone who is considered the ultimate, true, and eternal half of the other's soul, in which the two are now and forever meant to be together.² Pen pal: people who have a relationship via postal correspondence. They may or may n

10、ot have met each other in person and may share either love, friendship, or simply an acquaintance between each other. ² Internet friendship: a form of friendship or romance which takes place over the Internet.² Roommate: a person who shares a room or apartment (flat) with another pers

11、on and do not share a familial or romantic relationship.² Spiritual friendship: a relationship between friends with a common interest, though one person may have more knowledge and experience than the other. The relationship is the responsibility of both friends and both bring somethi

Friends are our truest treasures. How many times have they made us laugh when we fe

13、lt like crying over a bad mistake? Made us feel loved when our boyfriends (or girlfriends) broke up with us? Gave us the courage to go back to school or to change careers? Like armor, good friends make us almost invincible, capable of warding off the blows life occasionally deals us. Because of thei

14、r steadfastness, we see setbacks for what they are: temporary. Because friends accept us for who we are, we gain the confidence to dream great dreams, and to make them real. Friends liven up our days with their twisted humor, their honest answers, and their ability to bear our gloating when we beat

15、them at golf or tennis. We can even trust them with our most embarrassing secrets! What a relief it is for us to reveal our true selves to someone! It is no wonder, then, that medical researchers have found that those who have friends tend to be happier, healthier, and live longer than those who do
