2、 of reading material will be offered. Through the whole class, the students will experience different kinds of reading strategies (fast reading, skimming, close reading, etc.), after which they are required to finish various types of exercises (multiple-choice test, gap-filling, T or F questions, et
3、c.). And at the end of the class, the students will have the opportunity to text their understanding of the text, that is to say, retelling the text in accordance with the key words on the blackboard. After class, the students need to finish some homework to further improve their integrated language
4、 capability.Task Analysis: This passage is the first part of Journey down the Mekong. It gives students the background about the bike trip, especially the planning that went into it. This part also introduces students to the four young people who made the trip: Wang Kun, the writer of the journal an
5、d his sister, Wang Wei, and their cousins Dao Wei and Yu Hang. This section also introduces students to many of the geographical terms they will use throughout the Students Book and Workbook parts.Difficult Point:Students will learn different reading skills in this period.Key Point:Students will dev
6、elop their reading ability, especially the ability of understanding implied meanings.Analysis of Students: Before this reading lesson, the students have already learned the new words in this text, though not concretely, it will be less difficult for them to understand the text. And the students have
7、 certain ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing and have a general idea of several reading techniques.Teaching Aims:Knowledge Aims:1. Learn the useful new words and expressions in this passage, such as cycle, persuade, stubborn, change ones mind, etc.2. Learn about the Present Continuou
8、s Tense briefly.Ability Aims:1. Get the main idea of the passage.2. Analyze Wang Weis characteristics.3. Master some geographic terms.Emotional Aims:Cultivate their love for nature and learn the spirit of optimism and persistence.Teaching & Studying Methods:1. Task-based teaching and learning- p
9、re-task: the process of leading in the topic; task-cycle: the process of finishing the tasks; post-task: the process of showing and making further understanding.2. Cooperative learning: by pair work and group work, students can communicate with each other and exchange their opinions, and also practi
10、ce the useful words and expressions in this passage.3. Discussion: by discussing freely, students will pay more attention to the topic and have more chances to practice their oral English.Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Lead-in Through the travel plan to the Expo made in the last period, teacher motiva
11、tes the students to think about the shortcomings of traveling to big cities, and thus leads in the new idea of ecotourism which is related to the text in this unit. Teacher asks the following questions:Q1: What will happen if such big city receives too many tourists?Q2: If you want to have an ecotou
12、rism, where will you choose? Please tell us why.Explanation By combing the topic discussed in the last period, the students can concentrate on this one more quickly. And the transition of the topic, from the disadvantages of traveling to crowded cities to ecotourism, can be easily accepted by the st
13、udents; so naturally, they get into the study of the text in this unit.Step 2: Timed Reading Students are required to read the text silently in three minutes. After finishing, teacher offers questions to test them.Q1: Where did they plan to go and how?A: They planned to cycle along the (entire) Meko

16、n the process of reading comprehension can help students increase their reading speed. To test the effect of their reading, follow several questions which are easy and quick to answer.Step 3: Scanning & Intensive Reading . Para 1: The Plan to the Mekong River Students are required to read Para 1
