3、iscrete VHF/UHF frequency, and at some locations on phone.Purpose, to improve controller effectiveness and relieve frequency congestion.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud5ATISATIS messages are recorded in a standard format and contain such information as:Airport name and message code letter.Weather information

4、, including:8/14/2022Paul Robichaud6ATISTime (Wx Seq),Sfc wind (Mag/Kt),Visibility,Obstruction to vis,Sky condition,Temp / Dew point,Altimeter setting,IFR approach in use,Rwy in use for arrivals / departures / circuits,Pertinent Sigmets / Pireps / Notams / RSC / Etc.,Instruction to inform ATC of ATI

7、xi information should be requested on the Ground Control frequency.Establish initial radio contact (atis code).Give location on airport, nature of flight, & other pertinent info such as color code.ATC will provide airport info, current altimeter setting, & taxi instructions.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud10

8、TAXI INFORMATIONAcknowledge and follow taxi instructions received. 9、SITIONS8/14/2022Paul Robichaud12AIRCRAFT RUN-UPSAircraft run-ups should be performed in designated areas (as required by either airport management and/or A/C operator), or as directed by the ATS unit.If unsure request clarification on run-up area.Unless otherwise directed, the A/C run-up may be comp

10、leted holding short of the active runway.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud13TRANSPONDER OPSTo avoid causing clutter on ATC radar displays, A/C transponders should be adjusted to “standby” while taxiing, and not be switched to “on” (or “normal/altitude”) until immediately before takeoff.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud

11、14TAKEOFF CLEARANCEWhen ready for takeoff, the pilot shall request T/O clx (plus other requests) and should include the runway number.Upon receipt of the T/O clx, the pilot shall acknowledge and takeoff without delay, or inform ATC if unable to do so.Example of Twr phraseology.8/14/2022Paul Robichau

12、d15TAKEOFF CLEARANCEA pilot may request to use the full length of the runway for takeoff at any time.If “backtracking” is required, a clearance to do so shall be obtained.Intersection departures are permitted.Rwy distance remaining provided;At pilots request, or;if ATC initiated, Tower is provide di

14、ccept!Wake turbulence sep is applied by ATC before clx issued.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud18WAKE TURBULENCEControl Towers provide wake turbulence separation to A/C departing into the wake of another A/C as required.Three A/C groups:1 (Heavy) all A/C GTW of 300,000 lb. or more.2 (Med) A/C GTW 12,500 lb to

15、 300,000 lb.3(Light) A/C GTW up to 12,500 lb.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud19WAKE TURBULENCEControllers generally apply either of two types of wake turbulence separation to departing A/C.Radar separation.Non-radar separation (time).Pilots may request additional separation if deemed necessary.Pilots may req

16、uest a waiver in some cases.8/14/2022Paul Robichaud20DEPARTURE PROCEDUREUnless otherwise published or directed by ATC, all turns are to the left after departure.If a straight-out or right turn after departure is required, it should be requested from the Tower with the T/O clx.If unsure, request clar
