6、pouse.Voteers twice ak 5-6 hours per day oage. Have voteered in Roundabout for 1 years.He voteers for Roundabouts bookroom because he loves 2nd hand storage and books, and the time spent here keeps himself busy.-He is not so much involved with other business in Roundabout as his mainerests in books.

7、Core duties:-Mainly in charge of the bookroom at the Roundabout store. Also supports the book fairin pre-fair preparationsand on-site. He is a key member of the bookin Roundabout.Bookroom facts:-The majority of the books are in English and othergrowing.ernational languages. The amount of Chibooks is

8、 also steadily-Book donations come to Roundabout anytime, e.g. when the expats clean house or leave Beijing.at end of spring/during summer when the relocations happen the most.ak usually comes-The bookstore can house around 4000 books, while they usually have 10k+ books in storage at any time. The embassies-are useful for sales specificall

10、ying the non-English audience and helps to sell these books more efficiently.-The bookroom has just recently started, so it is quite new and not yet well knownhe community. However, as thebookfairs enjoys good repuion, the bookroom has good potential to grow. Michael be vesshould be done to inform p

11、eople of the presence of the bookroom though.t more (marketing)-Key customer group of the bookroom/bookfairs is the expat community in general. Another big group is thestudents/parents attending the schools where the bookfairs are held.Bookroom voteers:-The majority of work related to books are done

12、 by the voteers.Sarah and one full-time staff (contributes 1-2 hrs a day) also help out, and they focuses chiefly on the Chibooks.The Chistaff has only recently started working on the books, and is now getting up to speed on the work, which ismainly to assist with the sorting and other basic logisti

13、cal stuff.-The bookroom voteers usually fallo four categories:o oCat 1 adults who have free time. Regularly comes in 1-2 times akCat 2 Community service performed by high school students. This usually is a 1-day event wischoolgroup coming in at the same time.o oCat 3 Infrequent individual voteers. D

14、ifficult to estimate their commitment and the volume.Cat 4 Bookfair specific voteers - Roundabout specific voteers who only helps outhe bookfair, orparents from school where the fair is being held.teers needed at the storeroom 2-3 voteers for 4-6 hours day-Total voThe number of voteers have gone dow

15、n a bit lay - mostly foral reasons. There is also less voteersduring wer months when the store is too cold.-Voteers duties sorting and categorization of books. Stocking the shelves and keep the shelves updated with booksfrom storage.How the donated books are being prosed:-When the books are donated,

16、 the voteers need to separate the books from other donated items. They will bescanned for their condition. If the books are too old to be sold, too torn, too beat up etc, they get recycled.-The books will then be sorted according to categories. Roundabous 20+ categories. The biggest categories areEn

17、glish childrens books and English fiction. Some Chitheir topics and conditions are suitable.books will also be sorted and given to migrant schools if-Once the books are categorised, they will be sortedo the relevant boxes. Once the boxes are filled, they are tdup and stored in preparation for the bo

18、okfairs.Michaelsal views of Roundabouts challenges:-Roundabout is young and still growing. It is at a poof where it could use a bit more structure.It would be good to have more managerial staff to oversee the operations and the voteers. At times, the voteerssaryfeel frustrated not being able to easi

19、ly find the relevant staff who ceep them informed and make the nedecis.-He also feelst there could be moreeractions betn the voteers and the staff, and among other voteers.He ishe pros of updating a set of procedures for books related proses feedback are currently beingcollected. He also sent some o

20、f his thinking on the major categories of what the team does, pluggestions andmendations to the Roundabout management team in Autumn 2014. She began with sorting the various donated books.She started focusing and specifically running the Round

At the-beginning the work was overwhelming, but it is going much smoother nowt she is more experienced, and anothervoteer, Friederike joined the team since Jan 2015.-She currently voteers 2-3 days perk at RoundaboutCore duties:-Basically in charge of

26、all theanisation and logistics involved in each bookfair.
