Since ancient times, it has ever been a famous bathing and tourist destination.Accord ing to historical records and archeological the Huaq ing Pool has a history of 6000 years for the use of hot springs and a history

3、of 3000 years of royal garde ns. Over these years, the cultural relics excavated near the source of hot springs prove that over 6000 years ago primitive residents had used the hot spring. In West Zhou, King Youwangordered the construction of Li Palace on the site.Then the emperors of thefollowi ng d

4、yn astiesjoi n in the line. AfterEmperor Xuan Zong ascended the throne, hecomma nded the con structi on of Huaq ing Palace on a large scale. The con structi on was built along the Lishan Mountains range, and the former spring well was desig ned into a pool. Roads were built to reach the top of Lisha

5、n Mountain and one two-way road to Changan lin ked Huaq ing Palace with Daming Palace and Xingqing Palace in the capital city .In the year 747 ., the new palace was completed and emperor Xuan Zong named it Huaqing Palace. Because there are manyhot spring pools in the palace, it is also called Huaq i

6、ng Pool With the third peak of Lishan Mountain and the source of hot springs on the axis and the hot springs as the center, the palace was laid out in four directi ons. This desig n, on the one hand, made a good use of the hot spri ngs; on the other hand, it represented a precise and strict layout.

The street is under the south ancient city wall behind the Forest of Steles , both sides of the slab stone

16、e academy of classicallearning,has its rootsin Guanzhong Shuyuan (namely,the academy ofclassicallearning in the area of central ShaanxiPla in. Guan zho ng Shuyua n is the highest seat of learning in Shaa nxi in Ming and Qing dyn asty.Being the first-rate one in northwest area, it is also one of the

17、four well-known academies of classical learning in China. The origin of Guan gzho ng Shuyua n also has an old story. It is said that a high official called Feng Congwu, once submitted a written statement to the emperor, but only to be dismissed from office because he said the emperor was addicted to

18、 wine and womenall day long without solv ing state affairs. Feng Con gwu went home and bega n to give lectures in Bao qing Temple. Later, the senior official WangKeshou in Shaa nxi prov ince also joined him. From the n on, thousa nds of people came here to liste n to their lectures. So GuanzhongShuy

19、uan was set up there. After n early four or five cen turies history,the old street near the south city wall has fallen into disrepair. Then being carefullyplanned anddesig ned, it was rebuilt into an imitati on of an cie nt bus in ess street with a style of Ming andQing dyn asty in early 1990s.Today

20、, Shuyuanmenis a place of touristinterestfor the comb in ati on of both an tiquesandhan dicrafts. It is lined with row upon row of more tha n 100 diverse shops, such as shops for pain ti ngs, four treasures for study, seal or collecti on of an cie nt seals, etc. On the sec ond and third floor of the

21、 attic , there are manyblack tablets with golde n-coloredcalligraphies onthem, such as Wen cuige, Zuishuxua n, Juka nzhai, Haoyueg ong, etc. Moder n han dicraftsare the mainitems in this street, among which you could find the four treasures in the study, pottery figurine, calligraphy and pain ti ngs

23、pain ted rafters, has bee n servedas the symbol of Xi an .It sta nds in the cen ter of the dow ntow n area where the north street, the south street, the west street and the east street meet. And the tower house a huge bell which in ancient times was use to strike the time every morning. This is how

24、the tower got its name. now it is an important historical monumentin shaanxi Provi nee. The Bell tower was first built in Yi ng Xiang temple in 1384 duringthe Ming dynasty. Itwas moved to its present site in 1582 as a result of the city s expansion program. Ladies and gentlemen, There is a story abo

25、ut the Bell Tower. It s said that the first emperor of Ming dynasty , Zhu yuanzhang , he was born in a poor family. Both his pare nt died whe n he was young, and he had to live a hard life. 26、 one of “ real drag on ” . Therefore, he gave orders to build bell tower all over the county to repress the “dragon spirits ” . Xi an has been the imperial capital city si nee ancienttimes. So the“dragon spirits ” must be very strong here. That s why the bell tower in Xi an was not only built earlie

27、r, but also bigger tha n the other ones in the coun try. The base of the tower is 1, square meters in size, meters high and meters wide. It was laid with blue bricks all over. The whole building is 36 meters above ground. It is a brick-and - wood structure. The eaves are supported by colored “dou go

28、ng ” a traditional structural system in which brackets are used to join colu mns and crossbeams, the use of dou gong made the whole buildi ng firm and beautiful.小雁塔The Small Wild Goose Pagoda is located in theJianfu Temple. Whe n Yi Jing appealed to the imperial court for funds to build a pagoda, so as to preserve the Buddhist scriptures , the Emperor Li Xia n asked the Empress for advice as he often did .
