Warm-up(10minutes):

•AskstudentstonamefamilymembersinEnglish.Writetheiranswersonthewhiteboard.

•Showpicturesoffamilymembersandaskstudentstoidentifythem.

•Playaquickgameofhangmanusingfamilymembervocabulary.

Presentation(20minutes):

•Introducevocabularyrelatedtofamilymembersusingflashcardsorahandout.

•Drillthevocabularybyaskingstudentstorepeatafteryou.

•Brainstormsentencesusingthefollowingstructure:“(Name)ismy(familymember).”

•Explainhowtousethepossessive‘stodescribefamilyrelationships.Showexamplesofsentenceslike“Sheismymother”and“Heismybrother.”

Practice(20minutes):

•Givestudentsaworksheetwithsentenceformationexercises.Theycanworkindividuallyorinpairstoformsentencesusingthevocabularyandsentencestructurestheylearned.

•Askstudentstospeakinpairs,usingthevocabularyandsentencestructurestheylearned.Encouragethemtoaskquestionstogettoknoweachotherbetter.

Production(10minutes):

•Wrapupthelessonbyaskingstudentstosharewiththegroupsomethinginterestingtheylearnedabouttheirpartnersoranotherfamilymember.

Assessment:

•Observethestudents’participationandabilitytoformsentencesusingthevocabularyandsentencestructurestheylearned.

•Evaluatetheirabilitytoidentifyfamilymemberscorrectlyduringthewarm-upactivity.

Homework:

Warm-Up(15minutes):

-AskstudentstosharetheirfamilynamesinEnglish

-Introducethevocabularyforfamilymembers,suchasmother,father,sister,brother,aunt,uncle,cousin,grandfather,grandmotherandsoon.

-Writethevocabularyonthewhiteboardandexplainhowtouseeachword.

-Askstudentstopracticepronouncingthewordstogether,repeataftertheteacherseveraltimes.

Presentation(25minutes):

-Showthefamilytreechart,andpointouttherelationshipofdifferentfamilymembers.Forexample,youcanusearrowstoindicatewhoismotherorfatherofwhom.

-Usepicturesofdifferentfamilymemberstoelicitvocabularywordsfromstudents.Ask"Whoisthisperson?""Isheyourfather?""Whatishisname?",andsoon.

-Teachstudentsthepossessiveadjectives"my"and"your."Giveexampleslike"Thisismymother."Askstudentstorepeatafteryou-"Thisismyfather.Thisismysister.Thisismygrandfather."Emphasizetheimportanceofusingthecorrectpossessiveadjectivetodescribetheirfamilymembers.

Practice(30minutes):

-Askstudentstodrawtheirownfamilytreechart,andplacethenamesoftheirfamilymembersonit.Bydoingso,studentscanpracticeusingEnglishtodescribetheirfamilymembers.

-Then,pairstudentsupandletthemdescribetheirfamilymembertoeachotherusingpossessiveadjectives.Forexample,"Sheismymother.HernameisLiMei."

-Monitortheirpracticeandprovidefeedbackasnecessary.

Production(10minutes):
