Intheearly1950s,IbukatraveledintheUnitedStatesandheardaboutBellLabs'inventionofthetransistor.[7]HeconvincedBelltolicensethetransistortechnologytohisJapanesecompany.WhilemostAmericancompanieswereresearchingthetransistorforitsmilitaryapplications,Ibukalookedtoapplyittocommunications.WhiletheAmericancompaniesRegencyandTexasInstrumentsbuilttransistorradiosfirst,itwasIbuka'scompanythatmadethefirstcommerciallysuccessfultransistorradios.

InAugust1955,Sonyproduceditsfirstcoat-pocketsizedtransistorradiotheyregisteredastheTR-55model.[8]In1956,Sonyreportedlymanufacturedabout40,000ofitsModelTR-72box-likeportabletransistorradiosandexportedthemodeltoNorthAmerica,theNetherlandsandGermany.

ThatsameyeartheymadetheTR-6,acoatpocketradiowhichwasusedbythecompanytocreateits"SONYboy"advertisingcharacter.[9]Thefollowingyear,1957,SonycameoutwiththeTR-63model,thenthesmallest(112×71×32mm)transistorradioincommercialproduction.Itwasaworldwidecommercialsuccess.[10]UniversityofArizonaprofessorMichaelBrianSchiffer,Ph.D.,says,"Sonywasnotfirst,butitstransistorradiowasthemostsuccessful.TheTR-63of1957crackedopentheU.S.marketandlaunchedthenewindustryofconsumermicroelectronics."Bythemid1950s,Americanteenshadbegunbuyingportabletransistorradiosinhugenumbers,helpingtopropelthefledglingindustryfromanestimated100,000unitsin1955to5,000,000unitsbytheendof1958.However,thishugegrowthinportabletransistorradiosalesthatsawSonyrisetobethedominantplayerintheconsumerelectronicsfield[11]wasnotbecauseoftheconsumerswhohadboughttheearliergenerationoftuberadioconsoles,butwasdrivenbyadistinctlynewAmericanphenomenonatthetimecalledRockandRoll.corporatestructureCompanyannouncement,thecompanyexecutives,executivevicePresidentandchieffinancialofficer,kato,executivevicePresidentandchiefstrategyofficercaneside,willbefullyresponsibleforSONYgroupfinance,corporatestrategyandbusinessstrategy.Intermsofelectronicbusiness,besideskatoandcane,executivevicePresidentofthecompanyexecutiveandfundamentalchapter2willberesponsiblefortechnicalstrategy,executivevicePresidentofthecompanyexecutiveandsuzukiarewillberesponsibleforproductstrategy.TheteamwilltakeresponsibilityinSONY'selectronicsbusinessrenewal,helphorizontalwellandthebusinessgroupandoperatingfunctionsoftheplatformandtheunitycooperation,tospeeduptherecoveryofSONY'selectronicsbusinessoperations.4.CoreproductVariouscorebusinessdomainallhasfacethewidebandnetworktimeexplicitmission,throughenhancestherentabilityandthebrandvaluetwoaspectsunceasinglycontinuestheenhancementcompanydiligentlythecompetitivepower.Intheelectronicserviceaspect,Sony'sgoalbecomestheleaderwhothenetworkexpenseelectronicproductsdomaindeserves,providesthefillcharmelectronichardwareproducttotheconsumerwhichallmayusewithwishesfulfilledinthefamilyandthemotionenvironment.Inthegameserviceaspect,furtherwilldevelop“PlayStation”theservice,thegamecategorywhichthesurmountingformerpeopleunderstood,willcreateawidebandnetworktimetheelectronicentertainmentbrand-newindustry.Intheentertainmentservicedomain,besidesHollywood,Sonywilldevoteinmanufacturesthehighstandardinglobaleachdifferentareatheentertainmentcontent,andwilldistributeintheglobalscope.Instrengthensvariouscorebusinesscompetitivepowerunceasinglyinthefoundation,Sonypositivelyisalsoattemptingestablisheseachkindofwidebandnetworktimethebrand-newbusinessmodel.Inordertofurtherstrengthenbetweenelectronic,thegameandtheentertainmentservicerelation,enhancesthegroupoverallvalue,inApril,2002Sonyofficiallyhadbeenestablishedthenetworkapplicationandthecontentservicedepartment(NACS-NetworkApplications&ContentService).NACSwilltakeSony'scontentservicedomainwithtaketheelectronichardwareasthecentralareaoftechnologybridge,willattemptintheSonyinnatenetworkplatformcarriesouttheservice.Andinordertolettheusercommunitypersonalfeelexcitingtheopenwidebandnetworkenvironmentassoonaspossiblethechangewhichlivesforthepeoplebrings,Sonypositivelywithwillalsohavethecommunaldevelopmentideaenterprisetocarryontheelasticalliance(strategiccooperation).TheSonygrouphasmanykindsofdifferentservicedomain,isanextremelyuniqueenterprise.Sonywillbefullusesownservicestructurethecharacteristic,throughwiththefieldotherenterprise'smutualcooperation,willbecomethewidebandnetworktimetoeagerlyanticipatethetidalcurrentthemediaandthetechnicalcompany.RegionaldistributionscaleSony(China)thelimitedcompanyexpandsunceasinglytoChinainvests,Sonyhasatpresentsurpassed800,000,000USdollarsintheChinesetotalinvestmentcost,afterthisiscontinuesin2001thetotalinvestmentcostsurpassed500,000,000USdollarsunceasinglyincreasestheinvestmentthemostrecentdata.SonywillinvestthehighspeedgrowthtendencyinChinawhichandthelocalizationdevelopedstilltocontinue.SettlesdownintheJiangsuProvinceWuxicountryhightechnologyandnewtechnologyindustrydevelopmentzoneSonyelectron(Wuxi)thelimitedcompany,tookSonyinChina'simportantproductionbase,atfirst2,300tenthousandUSdollarsinvestmentcostsgraduallygrewtonear100,000,000USdollars,becomestheSonyaccelerationnativeplaceservicedevelopmenttheimportantplaceoforigin.ShanghaiRopeBr
