Whatwentwrong?Isthelingeringshadowoftheglobalfinancialcrisismakingithardertoaccept

Bothargumentsareplausible.However,thereisathirdfactor:aquestionoftouch.Wecanlovethelookbut,in

anonlineenvironment,wecannotfeelthequalityofatexture,theshapeofthefit,thefallofafoldor,forthat

matter,theweightofaneaning.Andphysicallyinteractingwithanobjectmakesyoumorecommitted.

WhenmymostrecentbookBrandwashedwasreleased,Iteamedupwithalocalbookstoretoconductan

experimentaboutthedifferencesbetweentheonlineandofflineshoppingexperience.Icarefullyinstructeda

groupofvolunteerstopromotemybookintwodifferentways.Thefirstwasafairlyhands-offapproach.

Wheneveracustomerwouldinquireaboutmybook,thevolunteerwouldtakethemovertotheshelfandpointto
