Firstly,let’sfocusontheanalysisofteachingmaterial.ThislessonisfromPEPPrimaryEnglish,Book5A,StoryTimeofUnit2Teachers.

Hereisthestory.It’safunnystoryabouttwoteachersandtheirstudents.I’lltalkaboutthefirstperiodofthislessonwhichincludesthreeparts:1.Let’sread.2.Putthesentencesinorder.3Retellthestory.

Asweknow,thislessonisthelastpartofthisunit.Therefore,thefunctionofthislessonistoreviewandconsolidatethekeywordsandfunctionalsentencesofthisunitintheformoftheshortstory,anddevelopthestudents’thinkingandreadingabilitiesintheprocessofstoryreading.

Onthebasisofteachingcontentandthethestudents’situation,IwillmainlyusePictureTourandTask-basedApproachinthislesson.ThereadingofthisstorywillbeaSharedReadingbetweentheteacherandstudents.Iwillsharemyideaonthebasisofrespectingstudents’ideas,andguidethemtoconstructthestorywiththehelpofwell-designedquestionsandtasks.

Step1.Warm-up

Hereisaguessinggameforthestudents.Lookatthepictureandguess:Whoishe?Iwilltellthemhe’soneoftheirteachers.IwillbreakthewayofteachersalwaysaskandthestudentsalwaysanswerinmostEnglishclasses,letthestudentstasksomequestionsabouthim,andIwillanswertheirquestions.Thisgameisabrainstormingtoo,itcanhelpthestudentsreviewsomequestionswhichtheyhavelearnedinthisunitorbeforeandlearntoask.Anditalsocanarousethestudents’interests.

Step2Lead-in

Afterthis,itwillbethelead-inpart.Iwillshowthetwoteachersofthestory,andtellthestudentstheyareMissKittyandMrsTiger.AskthemtopayattentiontotheirnamesKittyandTiger.Thenaskthemtodescribe“whataretheylike”.Thepurposeistoreviewthekeywordsandsentenceswhichtheyhavelearned.Meanwhiletheycanguesstwoteachers’characters.

Thenthestudentswillpredict:WhatwillhappenamongMissKitty,MrsTigerandthestudents.Theywillimagineandmaketheirownstories.Maybetheywillmakesomefunnystories.

Step3Presentation

Now,we’rehereinstep3.Presentation.Asweknow,thislessonisafunnystory,soatfirst,Iwillnotpresentthewholestorytothestudents.Accordingtothestoryline,Iwilldividethestoryinto3sections.andguidethemtoreadthestorySectionbysection.Inthisway,thestudentswillhavemorechancestopredict,toaskandtothink.

SectionA,IwillguidethestudentstolookatthepicturesfromPicture1toPicture2,thenaskthemsomequestionsaboutthepictures.It’llhelpthemgetsomeusefulinformationaboutthestoryanddevelopthehabitofwatchingpicturescarefully.Ithinkthestudentscaneasilygettheanswers,soIwantthemtothinkmore.I’llaskthem:Wouldyouliketobeastudentinthisclass?Whyorwhynot?Thestudentswilltrytoexpresstheirownideas.

SectionB,Firstly,Iwillfocusonpicture3.IwillaskthestudentstoguessWhathappenedtoMissKitty?andaskthem“Ifyourteacherdoesnotcometoschool,howdoyoufeel?Whatwillyoudo?Guidethestudentstosolveproblemsintheirreallife.Then,Iwillfocusonpicture4toPicture6.Thestudentswilllearnthese3picturesbythemselves.

Herearetwoactivities.1.Putthesentencesinorder. Thentheywilltrytoretellthestory.It’llbeeasyforthemtoretellitwiththehelpofthemindmapontheblackboard.2.Role-play:Chooseonesectiontoactitout.Theywillworkinfourandtrytocreatethestory.

Step5SummaryandHomework
