第四单元Adversityandcourage

单元总备

一、教材分析:

本单元的主题是“逆境与勇气”,主要围绕英国探险家沙克尔顿及其“坚忍号”船

员的南极内容分析探险展开。其经历大致如下:沙克尔顿带领的“坚忍号”探险队

于1914年8月从伦敦出发,探限目标是横穿南极大陆。然而,由于被浮冰围

困,他们不得不弃船居住在浮冰之上。随着浮冰不断碎裂变小,船员们又被迫

流落到无人的象岛。为了挽救被围困的船员,沙克尔顿带领救援小队乘救生艇

赴南乔治亚岛捕鲸站求助。最终,在他们的不懈努力下,所有人获救,于1917

年春天返回伦敦。由于沙克尔顿与“坚忍号''船员的南极探险过程复杂、情节曲

折,编者将故事连贯地铺陈在本单元的各个板块,使板块之间环环相扣,内容

细节前后呼应。本单元的引言来自英国着名作家塞缪尔・约翰逊,句子的意思

是:伟大的作品不是靠力量,而是靠坚持来完成的。perseverance一词在此句中

被翻译成“坚持”;此外,它还常被翻译为“毅力”“韧性”“不屈不挠”等含义。

二、文本分析:

活动主题:该板块的主题是“探讨冒险精神"(Explorethespiritofadventure)o这

一板块展现了探险家沙克尔顿招募船员、少年珀西登上“坚忍号”、“坚忍号”被

困并沉没、船员登陆象岛、沙克尔顿组队求援的大致过程,其中每一个事件都

伴随着对相关人物的考验,展现了探险家和船员们不畏艰险、不惧困难的精神。

在学习这一板反块时一,学生一方面要结合历史背景理解探险家和船员们所面临

的极端困境,另一方面要结合故事细节对人物的性格和品质进行分析,从而发

现“成功的失败''背隐藏的相:领导者危不乱、敢于担当船员乐观积极、团结奋进,

领导者与船员之间互相尊重、彼此信任。文本分析:阅读文本分为两个部分,

一部分是背景知识介绍,另一部分是以"坚忍号''服务员珀西・布莱克博罗的口吻

写下的三篇日记。从沙克尔顿带领“坚忍号''船员于伦敦启航,直到他们全部回

到英国,这一历程长达两年多。

语法结构:语法结构:本单元的核心语法结构是现在完成进行时,这一时态的谓
