Oneofthemainproblemsforseniorexecutivesisthattheydonothavethetime

orresourcesneededtocommunicateeffectively.Inlargecompanies,forexample,

itisimpossibleforseniormanagerstomeetanddiscussprogresswitheachemployee

individually.Obviouslythistaskcanbedelegatedbutatthecostofcreatinga

gapbetweenseniormanagementandstaff.Asaresult,managersareoftenforcedto

useothermethodsofcommunication,likememosornotes,eveniftheyknowthese

arenotnecessarilythemostsuitablemeansofpassingonmessages.

Theuseoftechnology,suchase-mail,mobilephonesandnetworksystems,isspeeding

upcommunicationimmensely.However,thisdoesnotmeanthatmoreinvestmentin

technologyautomaticallyprovesbeneficial:systemcanbecomeoutdatedoremployees

maylackappropriatetraining.Therearemanycommunicationstoolsnowavailable

butafirmcannotaffordallofthem.Evenifitcould,itdoesnotactuallyneed
