TheStoogesgottheirnameandtheirstartinanactcalledTedHealyandhisStooges.Thisactbeganpavingthewayfortheirexceedinglysuccessfulcareer.Originally,theteamwascomposedofLarry,MoeandShemp.However,Shempleftforacareerinmoreseriousmovies.WhenShempleft,Curlytookhisplace.Shemp'sclumsycharacterreturnedin1946afterCurlysufferedastroke.

Childprotectionisadifficultandchallengingcareerpathtofollow,buttherewardsdoexist.Manyofourcaseworkerschoosethiscareerpathoutofadesiretocontributetothecommunity.Tobepartofaprocesscanultimatelychangeafamily'slife,andcaseworkersmaywitnesstheirinterventionequipayoungpersonsothathisorherfutureprospectsareimproved.Ofcourse,thisdoesnotoccurwitheveryintervention.Butwhenithappens,itisa(n)rewardingexperience.Andifyouarewonderingwhetherthisexperiencemakesthejobworthwhile,thentheanswerisYES!

Agoodindicatorofhowoutsidepeoplelookatthecaseworkercareerhasbeenthefeedbackfromuniversitystudents.In2006therewere118studentsonplacements(实习)ofcaseworkercareer.Thosestudentswhocompletedtheirplacementsinchildprotectionin2006toldusaboutthegreatopportunitytheyhavehadtoapplytheorytopractice;themanychancesoflearningnewskillsandtryingnewtasks;thesoundknowledgeavailablethroughtraining;thewillingnessofcaseworkerstotalkabouttheirexperiences;andhowvaluablebecomingfamiliarwithdifferentwelfareserviceswastotheirfuturecareer.

Wearelivingintheageofatelecommunicationsrevolution.Inordertokeepfromgettingleftbehind,manydevelopingcountriesaremakinganintensiveefforttostrengthentheirtelecommunicationsinfrastructure.Thiswillhelpthemcatchupwiththedevelopedcountries.Itwas,afterall,advancedtelecommunicationsthatgavesomecountriesaneconomicadvantageoverothersduringthe20thcentury.Thereisoneplacethatdevelopingnationsarelookingtoimproveupon.ThatisenablingtheircitizensandbusinessestogetaccesstotheWeb.Theyareinstallingadvancedopticalfibers.Thesefibers,amillimeterindiameter,canbringtheinformationsuperhighwaytotheirdoor.TheinitialinvestmentsthatcountrieslikeVietnamaremakingmayseemtoogreatbecausetheystilllackbasicutilities,likeelectricityandwater.However,governmentofficialssaythatthesemovesarestrategic.Theyarealsoconfidentthattheircountrieswillreapthebenefits.Theywillbenefitfromhavingmorereliableandup-to-datetelecommunicationsequipmentandgainingmorerevenues.OneVietnameseleadersaid,"Itisunderstandablethatpeoplewanttotackletheirimmediateproblemsfirst.Still,ourentirefutureisatstake.Peopledon'talwaysunderstandthebreadthoftheproblem,though."Hecontinued,"Thereareproblemswithusingtheantiquecommunicationsequipment.Andifwecontinuetousesucholdequipment,thegapbetweenusandthedevelopedworldwillcontinuetowiden.sacrificeshavetobemadenowsothatourchildrenwillhaveacountrywithopportunitiesequaltothosetheyseeinthedevelopedworld."ItwillnotbefarwhentheycancruisealongsideAmericansandWesternEuropeansontheinformationsuperhighway.
