In1978,thebronzevesselwasdugoutfromacellar(地下室)inFufengcountyofBaoji,ShaanxiProvince.Itwaslaterhousedinalocalmuseum,butonNov.5,1984,itwasstolenbythieves,andwhereithadgoneremainedunknown.Sincethetheft40yearsago,Chinahadnevergivenuplookingforit,saidLiQun,directoroftheNationalCulturalHeritageAdministration.
