wentintobusinessforthemselves—primarilytoservetheirownneighborhood.Asfor
laundriesandrestaurants,someofthemsoonspreadtootherpartsofthecity,sincesuch
servicescontinuedtobeindemandamongnon-Chinese,too.Tothisday,certain
Chinatowns,especiallythoseofSanFranciscoandNewYork,arebusy,thriving
communities,whichhavebecomegreatattractionsfortouristsandforthosewhoenjoy
