1、Inaugural Address,John F.Kennedy,United States Presidential Election,The election of the President and the Vice President of the United States is an indirect vote in which citizens cast ballots for a slate of members of the U.S. Electoral College; these electors in turn directly elect the President

2、and Vice President. Presidential elections occur quadrennially (from 1792) on Election Day, the Tuesday between November 2 and 8, coinciding with the general elections of various other federal, states and local races.,Following the November general election,the President elected will happily prepare

3、 his inaugural address for the inauguration ceremony taking place before the U.S. Capitol Building on January 20.,By law any natural-born American citizen of and over 35 years of age can run for the Presidency. But in fact only the candidates nominated by the two major parties, the Republican and th

4、e Democratic, have the chances to win a Presidential election. To win a Presidential election, a candidate has to spend many millions of dollars which comes from its personal collection, partys help and grant from the Government.,He has to travel all over the country, making countless speeches and s

5、haking hands with countless voters. He has to face his rival in debates on television. He has to make the best use of his glib tongue and arouse public confidence in him.,John F. Kennedy,Commonly known as Jack or by his initials JFK, was the 35th President of the United States, serving from 1961 unt

6、il his death in 1963. At 43 years of age, he was the youngest to have been elected to the office. A Catholic, Kennedy was the only non-Protestant president, and was the only president to have won a Pulitzer Prize.,His New Frontier in social legislation involved a federal desegregation policy in educ

7、ation, and civil rights reform. He displayed firmness and moderation in foreign policy, in 1962 inducing the former Soviet Union to withdraw its missiles from Cuba, and achieving a partial nuclear test-ban treaty with the former Soviet Union in 1963.,He was assassinated in November 1963, when journe

8、yed to Texas for a speech-making tour. He was shot in the neck and head by a 24-year-old man. He died half hour later.,Kennedy Family,The Kennedy family is a prominent family in American politics and government. Their political involvement has revolved around the Democratic Party. The wealth, glamor

9、, and photogenic quality of the family members, as well as their extensive and continuing involvement in public service, has elevated them to iconic status over the past half-century, with the Kennedys sometimes referred to as Americas Royal Family.,From 1947, when Jack became a member of Congress,

10、to 2011, when Patrick Joseph Kennedy II departed Congress, there were 64 years with a Kennedy in elective office in Washington. While, the family has suffered numerous tragedies, contributing to the idea of the Kennedy curse.,Inauguration Day,The first one on April 30, 1789, George Washington. Since

11、 1937, Inauguration Day has been changed to Jan, 20. On this day every four years the newly elected president of the United states faces the people for the first time. Takes the presidential oath of office and delivers his inaugural address.,The Solemn Oath (The Presidential Oath),Traditionally admi

12、nistered by the Chief Justice, is prescribed in Article II, section 1 of the Constitution of the United States. The oath runs as follows:“ I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend
