7、表示将来“可能”发生的情况,即主句事态的发生有赖于条件分句事态的发生。此时说话人或是把条件视为事实。或者仅仅提出条件,不作任何主观设想,如果条件实现,主句内容便成为事实,如果条件不实现、结果也就不会发生。一般条件分句动词用一般现在时形式,主句动词用willshall-不定式的一般将来时形式。如: (a)If it stops raining ,Ill go for a walk. 如果雨停了,我就去散步。 (b)If it doesnt stop raining, Ill stay at home如果雨不停,我就呆在家里。 (c)If its ready, hell bring it tomo

8、rrow如果准备好了,他明天就把它带来。 (d)What are you going to do if it rains?如果下雨,你们要干什么? (e)If you dont hurry and get there before five oclock,hell leave the office and go home 如果你不快点,在五点前到那儿的话,他就会离开办公室回家。 (f)If he has finished his work by six oclock,we shall be able to take him with us 如果他到六点完成工作的话。我们就可以带他一起去。 (当

9、条件状语从句强调动作的完成时,从句中用现在完成时比用一般现在时更确切。),7,学习交流课件,条件句表示重复性的、可预见的情况 If引导的条件句也可以表示重复性的、可预见的情况或习惯动作,此时条件分句的动词用一般现在时,主句动词也用一般理在时。如: (a)Tigers live as a family if they have babies如果老虎有了虎崽的话,它们就群居。 (b)If a polar bear is hungry,it catches fish from the water 如果北极熊饿了,它就从水里抓鱼。 (C)If lions live in the wild,they l

10、ook for food themselves 如果狮子生活在野外,它们就自己寻找食物。 (d)If we train elephants,they do heavy work for us 如果我们训练象的话,它们能为我们干重活。 (e)If it rains, I go to workby taix如果天下雨,我乘出租车上班。 (f)If I make a promise,I keepit. 如果我许诺,我就信守诺言。,8,学习交流课件,条件句表示真理和事实 If引导的条件句还可以表示普遍真理和客观事实,在这种条件句中,if的意义接近于whenever,可成“当的时候”。此时条件分句的动词

11、用一般现在时,主句动词也用一般现在时。如: (a)If you heat ice,it melts冰受热会融化。 (b)If you pour oil on water,it floats将油倒在水上,油会浮在表面。 (c)If the temperature drops to 0C,water freezes当温度降至OC时水结冰。,9,学习交流课件,注意 if 还可引导宾语从句,试比较: (a)Well go to visit the Great Wall if it doesnt rain tomorrow如果明天不下雨,我们就去长城。 (b)We dont know if it wil

12、l rain tomorrow 我们不知道明天是否会下雨。 这里第一句中的if 引导的是条件从句,第二句中的if 引导的是宾语从句,意思为“是否”,从句中的时态根据主句的时态而定。 另外,whether也可用于引导宾语从句,可与if替换;但whether可与or连用,而if不能。如: (a) I want to know whetherif she still lives there我想知道她是否还住在那里。 (b) He asked whetherif you received the letter他问你是否已经收到了那封信。 (c) Do you know whetherif theyll
