的悠久传统，发扬了福克纳的艺术风格和写作手法。她的作品，尤其是短篇小说， 是南方文学中的精品。韦尔蒂的写作主题是南方家庭，她主要通过对家庭关系的 描写来反映南方传统文化对现代人的消极影响，从而使她对南方文化的批判更有 现实的意义。金苹果作为韦尔蒂创作成就的巅峰之作，以2 0 世纪初到世纪中 叶的美国南方为写作背景，以漫游、情爱和自我追寻为主线，在古典文化的映衬 之下展示了现代社会的经络。 方传统的等级价值观念，保守的南方人美化南方的家庭和社区形象而形成南方的 家族神话。南方家族神话是整个南方社会的梦想。家族神话是南方文化的一种集 体梦想，它构成了南方大众对南方地区、南方家族以及南方传统文化的一种价值 观念、态度和信仰。 本文旨在从韦尔蒂的作品金苹果入手分析，通过南方神话的幻灭来重新 审和批判旧南方的历史文化传统。本文将南方神话的幻灭细化至三个部分：第一 部分分析了南方社会的历史特征：包括父权制等级制度、家族社区集体观念、伊 甸园情结以及排外心理。第二部分结合文本具体分析了南方家庭罗曼史的形成以 及瓦解。第三部分通过对文中三位具体女性的研究分析了南方传统女性形象的破 灭以及新型南方女性形象的形成。 本文得出以下结论：金苹果通过阐述南方神话的幻灭，也反映了韦吉、瑞 恩等作为具有现代思想的新一代南方青年自我意识觉醒的过程，即如何从家族神
