Dysmenorrhea refers to the periodic pain, intolerable insevere case, involving the lower abdomen or affecting the lumbosacral region prior to, past or during the menstruation, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, headache, or coma, and sustained attack during the cycle of menses is known as painful menstruation, mostly complained of by young women. Its case and mechanism: The etiology of dysmenorrhea concerns with the impaired circulation of Qi and blood due to either the deficiency of Qi and blood or stagnation of Qi and blood, leading to the dysharmony between The Chong and Ren Channels and blood stasis in the uterus in the consequence of Dysmenorrhea.Case Report:A 20-year old girl, Zhang, had distending pain of thelower abdomen for three years, which aggravated in recent half a year, The other symptoms and signs were: pale complexion, clammy perspiration, nausea, coldness of the extremities, dark red tongue with thin pale fur and deep uneven pulse .Those symptoms and signs were only alleviated with the use of anodyne, she was diagnosed as having dysmenorrheal due to Qi stagnation and blood stasis. Principle: soothe the liver and regulate the flow of Qi, alleviate the pain by removing blood stasis, Recipe: Gexiao zhuyu Tang plus Scolopendra (Wugong), After taking four doses of the recipe, she was relieved of her pain. She was told to take six doses of the recipe before menstruation for two menstruation periods, No relapse was claimed at follows-up.Chen, a 21-year old girl, suffered from a colicky andstraining pain of abdomen. The other symptoms and signs were distending pain of the breast, scanty menstruation with dark red tongue and thready, uneven and wiry pulse, she was diagnosed a having dysmenorrheal due to Qi stagnation and blood stasis.
