Maths is such a difficult subject that I cant understand it.,2. 以-ics结尾表示学科名称的名词作主语 时,动词用单数。这类名词有:physics, politics, mathematics等。以-s 结尾的名 词 news, economics 等同属此类。如: Politics is now taught in all schools. What time is the news on TV?,3. 表示时间、距离、金钱、重量、度量、容量、温度等的复数名词作主语时,通 常被看作一个整体,动词用单数。如: Three days is not long enough for the work. Four dollars is not enough to buy this coat.,4. 当 and 连接的两个并列主语在意义上指同 一个人、同一事物或同一概念时,动词用单数形式。如: The poet and writer is coming to our school next Friday., 主语为单数形式,动词用复数的情况 有些集合名词,如:police,cattle, team, family 等,虽然形式上是单数,但意义上却为复数,动词需用复数形式。如: The police were searching for the criminal everywhere., 谓语动词采用单数或复数形式的几种 需注意的情况 1. 有些集合名词,如:family, class, group, team, government, nation, couple, public 等用作主语时,如果作为一个整体看待, 谓语动词用单数形式;如果看作整体中 的各个成员,谓语动词用复数形式。如: My family is a small one. My family are all teachers.,2. 当“the + adj.”结构作主语时,如果表 示“某一类人”,如: the old, the rich, the brave 等,谓语动词用复数形式;如 果表示“某个人”,如: the wounded, the accused 等或表示“某一类抽象的事 物”,如: the beautiful, the good 等,谓 语动词用单数形式。如: The rich dont understand the life of the poor. The wounded was taken to a hospital.,3. 当“enough of / half of / most of / some of / the rest of + 单数 / 复数名词” 结构作主语 时,谓语动词的数根据of之后名词的数而 定。如: Enough of the information has been collected. Some agree with Tom, but the rest of us agree with Sam. 4. 当表示“百分数”、“分数”的词语作主语 时,谓语动词的数根据它们之后连用的 名词或代词的数而定。如:,2% of the workers are late today because of the bad weath
