口语救生圈口语Part2 答题示范口语救生圈PART2答题范例:迟到的经历Describeanimportantoccasionwhenyouwerelate.Youshouldsay:whenthishappened;whatoccasionyouwerelatefor;whyyouwerelate;andexplaintheresultofyourbeinglate.范例:Well, I was late for the English Literature exam at the end of last semester. At that time, I was supposed to be in the classroom before 9:00 a.m. But I didnt get there until 9:30.How could I be late in such an important occasion? Well, the alarm clock was to blame for my unpunctuality. It always worked fine, though it might go a little bit faster sometimes. I never thought it should conk out on me on that day. It certainly didnt deserve my trust. Anyway, at about 9:10, I woke up, wondering why the clock hadnt gone off yet. I had a sinking feeling when I saw the clock was showing 24:00. After checking out the time on my cell phone, I got dressed and grabbed a pencil and my ID card and then rushed out my apartment in an amazing speed without brushing my hair, let alone washing my face.I called a cab and finally arrived at the campus in ten minutes. In the lift, I kept worrying about the exam: what if the teacher wont let me in? What am I gonna tell her? Or, if she or he is really nice and gives me an opportunity to sit the exam, can I finish the paper within one hour? Fortunately, the invigilator was my tutor for the graduation thesis. She didnt say a word. But according to her wired expression, I knew I must look terrible. Anyway, I managed to fill in all the blanks on the paper, though I had no idea about some writers birth dates or masterpieces. The good thing was that I got a C, which wasnt too bad considering it was a difficult subject. So from then on, I would set at least two alarm clocks if I had important things to do the next day. Describe a room you spend most of your time in.You should say:where the room is;what the room looks like;what you usually do in the room;and explain how you feel about the room.范例:Well. The room that I spend most of my time in is my bedroom. Actually, because of my fathers business, my family moved around many times when I was young. And we finally settled downin a newly-builthousing estateabout six years ago. You just cant imagine how excited I was when knowing that I could have a permanent bedroom of my own.It is quiterun of the millat the first glance. The wall is white and the floor is covered with light yellow squareceramic tiles. But if youtake a closer look atit, you willmarvel attheingenuityof the designer. There is anemerald greenapple-shaped light on the ceiling. It makes me happy when I lie on the bed staring at it and doing nothing. Beside my bed, there is a bigbuilt-indesk and several closets. I have to say, every space of my room is perfectly utilized. Most of time, I would study in my bedroom. It iswell-lighted. I dont have to turn on the table lamp in the day time. It is in this room that I went through a hard time preparing for the college entrance exam whole-heartedly. So it means a lot to me. Apart from studying, Ive planted quite a lot of small green plants and flowers on thewindowsill. My room would be full of vitality when the light shines in through the window.Staying in this room makes me feel safe and calm. You know, as the door is closed, me and all the secrets, perplexities or joys are locked in this private space. Sometimes, I just love being alone and enjoy a little bit of privacy.相关问法:Describe your favorite room or apartment. You should say:where it is;how long you have lived there;what rooms and furniture it has;and explain why you like it.积累实用的表达:settle down 定居housing estate 住宅区。类似的表达有 residential area/block,communityrun of the mill 普通的,一般的at the first glance 咋一看,第一眼看起来。相当于 at the first sightceramic tile 瓷砖take/have a closer look at 仔细看,进一步查看marvel at 对感到惊奇ingenuity 心灵手巧,独创性emerald green 翡翠绿,鲜绿色built-in 嵌入式的,内置的well-lighted 光线充足的windowsill 窗台口语救生圈PART2答题范例:编自真人真事的电影Describe a film about real people or events. You should say:when and where you saw this movie;how you knew this film;what story the movie tells;and explain how you feel about this movie.范例:Ive seenquite a fewfilms based on real stories, most of which are fromHollywood. The one Id like to talk about is Titanic, which is truly a masterpiece of theworld-renowneddirector James Cameron. What story it tells:The film is a romance story set amid the sinking of Titanic - the mostastonishingshipwreckin history, which caused the deaths of over a thousand people. The director fullycapturesthe horror and scale of thetragedy, and delicatelyportraysthe love between Jack, a third class passenger who was a talented, yet penniless artist, and Rose, a first class passenger whowas supposed tomarry a proud and wealthy guy. When and where you saw itI thinkits safe to say thatalmost everyone has seen it. And I actually saw this film several months ago, in a 3D theatre with my friends. What you feel about the film:I went to see the film because everyone was talking about it, and I really wanted to find ou t what all the fuss was about. Having watched it,I have to admit, it is truly one of the best films Ive ever seen. I particularly applaud the scenes thatdepictthe love between Jack and Ross. For example, there was a scene that Jack gave up the small piece of wooden slab to Rose when they were both soaked innipping cold water. Ittugged at my heartstringsas I watched Jack slowly lose his strength and temperature and finally stopbreathing.Ending:Well, to sum up, I think the movie is really sad but inspirational, for it makes me believe that love can triumph over the fear of death.Notes:Quite a few 很多、不少,类似表达包括quite a lot; quite a bit; quite a numberWorld-renowned 世界闻名的Cameron 注意人名的发音,Cameron/kmrn/Astonishing 难以置信的、惊人的Shipwreck 海难、船只失事Tragedy 悲剧、惨剧capture, portray, depict 这是三个可以用来描述电影、电视剧、书籍的好词be supposed to 本应发生的、照理(例)应该发生的Its safe to say that 可以这么说、基本上是这么回事。潜台词:说话的人未验证事实,但基本确定。what all the fuss is about 意思是为什么大家都说它那么好 (why other people think it is so good)I have to admit 常用的衔接词,表示我不得不承认的是、我得承认的是Nipping cold 刺骨的寒冷tug at your heartstrings -是一个比喻用法,表示 makes you feel sadbreathing 注意动词breathe发音是/bri/,而名词breath发音是/bre/。因此动名词形式的breathing应于动词的元音发音一致 /bri/口语救生圈part2答题范例:海边活动Describea leisure activity you like to do near the sea.You should say:what the activity is;how often you do it;how difficult it is to do it;and explain why you like the activity.范例:Actually, there are quite a lot of popular leisure activities people do near the sea, such as strolling along the beach, writing characters or drawingpictures on the sand, or playing beach volleyball.Lucky for meI grew up near the sea. When I was little, I could go there everyday with my playmates, doing all kinds of fun things. It was more like a large playground for us. Theres something I still like to do when I am at the beach in my hometown - digging into sand for shellfish such as clams. It is a very relaxing activity. Minimal thinking is required. All you need to do is keep diggingslowly and gently. If you dig them with great strength, you would probablyendup withlots of smashed shells. Each time I can bring home a little bucket of clams. It doesnt necessarily mean that I am very patient. I just love to spend hours doing things I like. And I bet few people wouldnt love digging clams as it is so easy and fulfilling. You can imagine how happy I am carryingso many clams home before sunset. Because of me, my family would have one more palatabledishon the table.Notes:Strolling along the beach stroll:walk somewhere in a slow relaxed way, 表示“漫步”. along 表示“沿着”,通常和表示细长条形状的名词同时使用,例如along the road/ river/ corridor 等。Lucky for me 完整的表达是 It was lucky for me that I grew up near the sea. The language Ive always wanted to learn is Japanese, because I believe there are multiple benefits of learning it. First of all, I can enjoyJapanese TV dramaswithout referring to theChinese subtitles. Moreover, I can travel to Japan independently and communicate with local people. And it even means more job opportunities for me. I can be an interpreter if my company is doing business with Japanese. As we all know, learning a new language isfar from being an easy task. I have been fully aware of it since I began to learn English. In order to learn it well, I think it is very necessary tosign up foranelementary courseof Japanese first. I can hardly pronounce the basic50 Japanese letterscorrectly without the instruction of a qualified teacher. Besides, I need tosparesome time everyday to memorize the vocabulary, basic sentence structures, and some expressions frequently used in daily life. I should also make good use of my time by listening to the recordings of texts on my daily commute. Therefore,an MP3 playeris amust havefor language learners. Its said that language is like the ocean. We could only learn it drop by drop. Nobody short ofperseverancecan actually acquire a language. If I can balance my work and the study of Japanese, and keep learning it for a period of time, lets say two or three years, Im sure I will be able to communicate with Japanese effortlessly.Notes:Japanese TV dramas 日剧Chinese subtitles 中文字幕far from being an easy task 绝非易事,far from 表示“完全不,远非”sign up for 报名参加(课程),选课elementary course 初级课程50 Japanese letters 五十音spare 表示“抽出(一些时间等)”daily commute 每天上下班an MP3 player M 的发音是/em/, 因此冠词要使用an。must have 必备的东西perseverance 坚持不懈口语救生圈PART2答题范例:数学课Describe a mathematics class you attended in primary school. You should say:when you had the class;what the teacher taught;what you did;and explain what you learned from the class.Id like to talk about a math class about usingabacus, which took place when I was in the second grade.I remembered it so well because at that time I bought a brand new abacusspecifically forthat course. It was very lovely indeed, anebonywooden frame withivory whitebeads. And all my classmates bought one too. We were all excited in playing beads and making great noise before the teacher entered the classroom. The teacher first had a brief introduction of the abacus, mainly about the history and the importance of it. We were greatly surprised when she pointed out that abacus could even do multiplicationanddivision. However, she only taught us the most basic addition coz the others would be too difficult for us to understand. Later, I followed her instruction andworked out someadditionproblems successfully. I bet most students including me wished to use it during math exams! In fact, it was the only abacus class I had in primary school. I felt proud when my teacher said: abacus is a great invention of China and still used in many countries. But I have never used it to solve any math problems since then, coz a handy calculator would totally meet my need. Just like other brilliant inventions such asprintingandgunpowder, it has become a thing of the past. 2学习实用的表达:abacus 算盘specifically for 专为某人、某事而准备的ebony 黑檀木色的ivory white 象牙白multiplication, division, addition, subtraction 乘法、除法、加法、减法work out 计算出printing, gunpowder, compass, paper making 印刷术、火药、指南针、造纸术;movable type 可表示“活字印刷”口语救生圈PART2答题范例:机器人Describe a robot you know. You should say:What sort of robot it is;What it looks like; What it can do;And explain how you felt about the robot.范例:Well, I havea particular liking forall sorts ofscience fiction moviesand alwaysfancywhat the future life would be with the development of science. A robot I saw in my friend Lees house made me believe that though the current robots are not assophisticatedas those depicted in I Robot, abox office hitstarred by Will Smith, theadventof highly intelligent robot is justa matter of time.In fact, it is hard to define this robot. Imight as wellcall it a housekeeper. When I entered into my friends living room, a blackcylinder-shapedrobot came to say hi. It just looks like Eve, the white elegant robot in theanimation filmnamed WALL-E. Actually, the original words it said were: Welcome back Lee Oh, you brought a friend. Welcome. Iliterallyjumped out of my skinby such a smart machine, which spotted me as a strangerat first glance. Lee calmed me down and said it was notrocket sciencesince the technique of facial recognition was pretty common. Later, I found it was cleaning the house like a vacuum cleaner in a very organized way without making any noise. It would avoid the obstacles and clean every corner of the house. I guess it has a clear perception of the layout of the house. Whats more, I even saw it recharge itself automatically through a socket at the foot of the wall. Science is truly amazing!Though many people may argue that mechanical devicestake overjobs of millions manual labourers, I believe theydo more goodthan harmto us. Many of us including me had the experience of findinga kindred spiritin someone we first met, though its hard toget to the bottom ofthis phenomenon. Anyway, there was a girl named Wendy who became my intimate friend in the first day of my junior high school. At that time, she was sitting next to me. We liked to share our past life experiences to see if we ever met each other before. Being talkative andplayful, we often hadchitchatin classes andplayed tricks onothers. I still remember a nasty thing we did to a boy sitting in front of us. At that time, we both caught a cold and hada running nose. Therefore, we save a lot of tissues after blowing nose. Instead of throwing them in the trash can, we decided tomake good use ofthem. We made a nice box out of a cardboard and put all the tissues we used in it, and then gave it to that boy as a gift.Just as we expected, he accepted it quite merrily but soonlet outa scream of horror. Well. It is really awful as I think about it now. Apart from these, we also behaved like good students and would discuss our study duringbreaks. And we went home together by bike everyday.I once read a line somewhere that people would normally laugh at you when youmake a fool of yourselfbut few people will fully understand and accept yourwhimsicalideas and even do the same things like you. Well, I guess she belonged to the latter and I really appreciated that. Those memories between us are held dear to my heart and become muchfonder as time goes by.Notes:a kindred spirit 在口语中表示志趣相投、心有灵犀的人,例如 We soon realized we were kindred spirits.get to the bottom of 弄清或探明的真相,弄清起因playful 爱玩的,爱嬉戏的chitchat 闲谈play tricks on 捉弄a running nose 流鼻涕make good use of 充分利用just as we expected 不出所料,就像预期的一样let out 发出(叫喊声等)breaks 课间休息make a fool of yourself 出洋相,出丑whimsical 异想天开的,古怪的fond 形容词,最常用的形式是be fond of somebody, 表示喜欢某人。fond也可以用来修饰memory表示愉快的回忆。例如 I have veryfond memoriesof my time in Spain(= I remember it with affection and pleasure).口语救生圈PART2答题范例:助人为乐Describe a time when you helped someone. You should say:who you helped;how you helped them;why you helped them;and explain how this person benefited from your help.范例:Well.There are times whenpeople need others help andlend a helping handto others as well. I am no exception. Last year, I helped my roommate to see a doctor as she could barely walk because of the great pain caused by kidney stone.Actually, it was in a snowy morning, I waked up and saw that she was trembling all over andas white as a sheetin her bed. She thought it would be alright after a whil
