Dont be surprised if the interviewer asks you something like: “How are you today?” or “What do you think of the weather lately?” Answer the question without going into too much detail.Talking about qualifications is the most important part of any job interview. Your qualifications include your education and any special training you may have received in the past. Your qualifications also include your experience in any previous work. It is important to explain what experience you have in detail. Generally, employers want to know exactly what you did and how well you acplished your tasks. This is not the time to be modest.Try to avoid some big mistakes in the job interview, such as leaving the mobile on and criticizing previous bosses. The worst thing is you yourself have no questions. Having no questions shows you are either not interested or not prepared. Remember that interviewers are more impressed with the questions you ask than the selling points you try to make. 21. The passage is mainly about _. Money was tight and he became infuriated(愤怒的) when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree. Nevertheless, the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, This is for you, Daddy. The man was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger flared again when he found out the box was empty. He yelled at her, stating, Dont you know, when you give someone a present, there is supposed to be something inside? The little girl looked up at him with tears in her eyes and cried, Oh, Daddy, its not empty at all. I blew kisses into the box. Theyre all for you, Daddy. The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little girl, and he begged for her forgiveness. Only a short time later, an accident took the life of the child. It is also told that her father kept that gold box by his bed for many years and, whenever he was discouraged, he would take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love of the child who had put it there. In a very real sense, each one of us, as human beings, have been given a gold container filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more precious than this. 25. The 3-year-old girl was punished by her father for _. There a lot of foreigners stayed for night. He didnt know any other language but English and he found it difficult for him to understand the foreign visitors. Sometimes he had to use the body language to “talk” with them, and tried his best to make himself understood. But he was often misunderstood and it brought him a lot of trouble. A friend of his who learned a few foreign languages in a university would teach him. He was happy and studied hard. At first he learned some, but soon he found it wasnt easy to remember the words and expressions. His friend advised him to write down the useful expressions in his notebook so that he could use them when necessary. He did as he was told. He found it helpful for him to do so. One evening there were plenty of people in the dining room. They were all busy eating something except a Japanese. He was walking around there and waiting for his wife who was dressing herself up upstairs. Mr. Jackson thought to himself, “The man wants to eat something but he doesnt know any English. Let me help him.” As he knew only a little Japanese, he had to bring out his notebook and showed it to the man, pointing to the sentence “Im hungry”.The Japanese had a look at it and gave him two pounds and left. 29. Mr. Jackson was a beggar (乞丐) B. Mr. Jackson was a translator C. Mr. Jackson could help him D. Mr. Jackson could ring his wife up DThe average person learns most of the 30 00040 000 words whose meanings he or she recognizes by hearing them or getting familiar with them in the context or simply absorbing them without conscious effort. The best way to build a good vocabulary, therefore, is to read a great deal and to participate in a lot of good talks. There are relatively few words that we learn permanently by purposefully referring to dictionaries or keeping word lists. However, even those extra few are of value, and no one will make a mistake by working on developing a larger vocabulary. Here are some suggestions of how to do it. Read plenty of good books. When you e across a new word, or a new meaning of an old word, stop and see if you can understand it from its context. If you cant, and if you can manage without interrupting the thought of the book too much, look it up in a dictionary or ask somebody and then repeat its meaning to yourself a couple of times. If you are really conscientious(认真的), write the word and its meaning in a personal vocabulary list preferably using it in a sentence, or you can keep a special vocabulary notebook. Go over the list from time to time. Further, try to use a new word in writing or conversation a few times over the next several days. Listen to good talks and be alert to new words you hear or to new meanings of words you already know. Then treat them just as you treat the new words you read. Learn and be alert to the parts of words: prefixes, suffixes and roots. Knowing them enables you to make intelligent guesses about the meaning of words. If you are studying a foreign language, be alert to words in that language which relate to words in English. English has inherited(继承) or borrowed much of its vocabulary of 500 000600 000 words from Latin, Greek, French, Spanish and German. 32. When you meet a new word in reading, what should you do? A. Guess its meaning. B. Ask somebody. C. Look it up in a dictionary. D. All of the above. 33. According to this passage, the best way to build a good vocabulary is _. A. to remember a lot B. to read a great deal C. to take part in a lot of good talks D. both B and C 34. The phrase “be alert to” in the third paragraph may best be replaced by “_”. A. look at B. pay attention to C. write down D. learn by heart 35. In the fourth paragraph, the word “them” refers to _. A. the parts of words B. prefixes C. suffixes D. roots第二节 (共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 E(36)_You probably think you will never be a top student.
