人造理1 人学硕十学付论文 摘要 左传作为中国古代史学、经学和文学著作，为历代中外学者所关注。左传 在西方的研究与译介情况可以折射出中国古代文化的研究现状、角度和趋势。而对左 传西语译文的分析则可以进一步促进左传研究及左传翻译的发展，进而促进 中国典籍英译和文化交流。多元系统理论是一种较新的理论，对翻译研究产生了很大影 响，在现代翻译学中占有重要地位。多元系统理论认为，翻译活动实际上由译入语文化 中的常规所决定。以译入为导向的翻译研究和方法是翻译研究的发展趋势。利用多元系 统理论，对于不同时代不同国籍译者的左传译文进行描写性的系统分析和对比研究 能够客观呈现译文的不同特色、译者的不同翻译目的和策略。这能够更好地诠释翻译活 动，既有理论意义又有实践意义。本文在对左传在西方的研究和译介情况进行系统 调研的基础上，以多元系统理论为指导，对于华兹生英译左传和一百多年前理雅各
