硕士学位论文 1 s i t r s7 i i f i s 内容摘要 语篇分析是门新兴的学科，自上个世纪以来发展很快。语篇分析研究应 用中的语言，其总目的是更好地了解各种语篇如何在现实生活交际中发挥作 用。它所关注的是句子怎样组成语篇，尤其是一串串语言如何在一定上下文， 社会背景和心理状态下对语言使用者产生意义和连贯。这一学科的迅速发展大 大丰富了翻译理论，衔接和连贯既是语篇分析的中，f l , 议题，也是翻译关注的重 要成分，正是两种不同学科都共同关心的同一问题，才使得语篇分析在翻译中 的应用不仅成为可能、可行，而且大有裨益。 翻译的单位已经从词汇层，语句层扩展到段落层次及语篇层次；翻译的标 准已经从保留原文的文字美提高到对原文内容，语言和风格的忠实，翻译的原 则已经从转换原文的形式或内容，如词序、旬序、变成了传达原文的所有信息。 作为译者，在翻译过程中，我们首先是自始至终把语篇当作一个整体来对待， 在准确理解原文的基础上，选择地道的词汇搭配和语法结构尽管能够增加句子 的可读性，但并不能保证句子和段落就能组成一个通顺而连贯的语篇。因为中 英文语篇连贯的手段和意义存在着差异，如果对其不能进行正确处理，必然会 影响翻译解读，译文也许非常符合译语的词汇搭配和语法结构，然而读起来或 是别扭或是滞涩，因而不能完全被译文读者欣赏。 语篇的衔接是语篇的语言特征之一。韩礼德和哈桑认为衔接是一种谋篇意 义，是非结构性成份体现的跨句际意义联系。在其1 9 8 5 年出版的语言语 境语篇( l a n g u a g e c o n t e x t a n d t e x t ) 一书中，又把衔接的范围扩大到了实 现谋篇意义的结构之间关系，且把衔接关系总结为同指( c o r e f e r e n t i a l i t y ) 、同 类 c o c l a s s i f i c a t i o n ) 、同延( c o e x t e n s i o n ) 三种关系。胡壮麟教授在语篇的衔 接与连贯( 1 9 9 4 ) 一书中提出了语篇衔接与连贯的多层次思想，并进一步扩 大了衔接的范围。但胡壮麟教授认为情景语境虽然对语篇连贯起重要作用，但 不起衔接作用，即衔接机制的范围还是严格地限定在语篇内部的联系上。、 本文在讨论了韩礼德、哈桑和胡壮麟三位大师对衔接理论的贡献和仍然存 在的问题的基础上，从衔接的基本功能出发进一步扩大了衔接的范围，把它们 i i 硕士学位论文 m a s t e r s i i l is i s 等同于联系小句间及其以上单位的谋篇意义，它不仅是组织概念意义的谋篇意 义，而且还是组织人际意义的语义关系；同时，衔接不仅是组织语篇内部由语 言形式体现的意义的谋篇意义，而且还是把语篇和情景语境联系起来的谋篇意 义。本文突破了语篇衔接只在语篇内部和只包括概念意义的组织关系的局限 性，提出了人际意义的衔接和语篇与语境之间的衔接的观点；并认为语篇与语 境的衔接机制主要包括由语言项目预示的衔接关系，和由意义空缺形成的衔接 关系两大类。 本研究表明，英汉语篇衔接手段和衔接意义存在着巨大差异，因此在英汉 互译中，不仅要对源语语篇中不同的内部衔接手段和意义进行重新调整以便获 得衔接连贯的译文：更重要的是对那些因为认知环境等差异而导致的语篇外部 衔接手段和意义的差异，如连贯空位、连贯错位等进行有效处理提出了很好的 建议，比如增补、加注等方法。当然，此研究远远不能完全消除差异，只希望 起到一个抛砖引玉的作用，只希望尽可能理想地实现原文作者和译文读者之间 的跨文化交际。 关键词：英汉互译，连量
