摘要 长日留痕和上海孤儿是石黑一雄最重要的两部作品，反映了人们在追求 荣誉的过程中，人格发展会走向不同的极端。前者的主人公史蒂文斯的整个自我都是 建立在“职业”之上，他为了成为一个优秀管家，盲目依从，不惜牺牲自己的一切， 虽终其一生追求“荣誉”，却丧失了人格主体，背叛了道德与责任。( i - 海孤儿讲述 了英国大侦探班克斯只身来到动乱的上海，试图解开父母突然失踪的疑案，并异想天 开地想凭此拯救整个世界于战乱和堕落，但面对残酷的现实，他不得不承认自己那“伟 大”的使命感太过虚幻与遥远。在荣誉感的驱使下，他们苦苦奋斗却压抑人性，欺骗 自我，并表现出虚伪与自私，背叛了道德和人性，曲解了“荣誉”这个神圣的字眼。 本文从后殖民主义的角度分五个部分来论述这一主题：绪论部分简要地回顾了前 期专家学者对于这两部作品的研究，并提出了本文新的批评视角一从人们对于荣誉的 追求与背叛进行分析论述。第一章概要探讨了荣誉的起源以及作品长日留痕和( i -
