y内容摘要篇章语言学出现于上世纪六、七十年代，并在随后的几十年间迅速发展成为语言学的一个重要组成部分。衔接手段作为篇章研究的重要讨论对象之一，吸引了国内外众多学者的目光。尤其在近些年中，衔接手段的对比研究在对比语言学中占据了一席之地，并且推进了翻译、语言教学以及人工智能等领域的研究与发展。本文以广泛观察和个案研究相结合的方法，对英汉语中一些衔接手段( 尤其是可以被认为是广义回指的衔接手段) 做了详细的对比，并试图从语法、语义及认矢n _ - - 个方面来阐释英汉语中衔接手段的差异。一般说来，英语中存在更多的人称照应、替代以及除原词复现之外的重复，而省略( 尤其是零回指) 和原词复现则大量出现在汉语中。为了解释这些差异，本文分章采用了语法化理论，语言类型学理论，可及性和主题性理论，以期从几个不同但相互联系的方面给出较为综合的阐释。英语是一种主语突出的形态型语言，语法化程度较高，其丰富的形态和严格的语法规则提供了大量明晰的语言线索，使英语在使用诸如替代、省略等一类依靠形态、结构相关联的衔接手段时占有一定的优势，同时使主要依靠意义相关联的照应和重复手段的使用也受到了一定的影响。汉语是一种主题突出的语义型语言，语法化程度较低，其衔接在很大程度上依赖于非语言线索。汉语的衔接手段不受限于语法，其理解几乎可以独立于形态、结构线索，因而省略( 尤其是零回指) 以及原词复现成为了汉语中应用最为广泛的衔接手段。频繁出现在汉语中的零回指影响了汉语中代词的发展和使用。事实上，较之英语，汉语的代词体系比较缺乏，其代词作为一种标记形式表达着复杂的可及性，有时甚至蕴涵语用功能。本文对衔接手段的差异的阐释由微观层面上升到宏观层面，即：差异的本源存在于不同的思维模式之中。关键词：衔接手段；对比：语法化；语言类型学：可及性a b s t r a c tt
