摘要 维多利亚时期文学被公认为具有现实主义风格，并且关注道德的。本文将 重点放在了维多利亚小说中描绘的贵族阶级人物身上。本文认为在维多利亚时 期贵族阶级经历了经济和政治上的衰退，因此维多利亚小说中的贵族阶级面临 着道德的困境，而在困境之下，不同的人又做着不同的选择。 本文由前言，结论以及三个章节构成。前言部分说明总结了国内外对于维 多利亚小说中的贵族阶级以及维多利亚小说中的的道德的研究状况，然后介绍 本文的论题，研究所采用的方法以及本文的重要意义所在。本文所采用的主要 研究方法为文学伦理学批评和马克思主义伦理批评。本文的第一章由三个部分 构成：第一部分简要回顾了贵族的发展历史，然后给出维多利亚时期贵族的定 义。第二部分从经济和政治角度描绘了维多利亚时期贵族阶级的整体生存状况。 指出贵族地位的下降。第三部分指出由于经济和政治地位下降，贵族面临着一 个道德困境一是否坚持传统的道德观念。第二章介绍了维多利亚小说中的贵族 群像并将其分为两组：宫廷贵族和乡绅。第三章分析贵族阶级面临的道德困境， 并将其根据各自做出的选择归纳为三组：固守旧道德的顽固守旧派，汲取了中 产阶级优良道德传统的中产阶级同化派，以及放弃了固有道德而又没有找寻到 出路的放任堕落派。
