硕士学位论文 m a s t e r st h e s i s 中文摘要 我们处在一个充满交流的时代，除了日常交往中的对话，媒体也在以各种形式向 我们传递信息，和我们对话。巴赫金认为，“对话”是语言的本质，语言只有在“对 话”中才能存在，任何表述，除了它本身的意义，在更广的程度上是对其他人表述的 一种回应。巴赫金的理论为从批判语言学角度分析新闻语篇提供了可能。 新闻内容必须以事实为依据，不然就失去可信度。这是它与其他文学作品的区别 所在，也与它为大众提供信息的基本功能相一致。通常情况下，人们也愿意去相信媒 体对现实有着准确的刻画。但新闻只是一个产品，并非自然生成于现实，而是受到权 利，意识形态等社会因素的影响。而且在现代社会，权力越来越多的在通过意识形态 体现，而意识形态最直接的载体就是语言。新闻语篇正是这样一种特殊的体现意识形 态的语言载体。广义上，新闻语篇可以反映整个社会在某个特定历史阶段的普遍价 值观。 我们知道，新闻的一个必要组成部分就是转述引语。新闻通过转述不同人和机构 的话语来达到客观，让读者体会到新闻不偏不倚的态度。因此，各种不同的声音就出 现在同一个新闻语篇中。但这些声音可能是相互支持，相互补充甚至相互矛盾的。通 过研究新闻语篇中的不同声音，读者可以看到语言是反映不同阶级，国家和利益集团 声音的工具。至于哪一种声音占主导地位，受到各种社会因素的影响，比如当时的普 遍流行的社会意识形态，或则媒体所代表的政党等因素等。至于怎样去突出某一种声 音，让读者潜移默化的受到影响，转述引语的巧妙使用非常重要。媒体有计划的使用 转述引语，有意地安排消息来源，转述动词，转述模式和转述内容是可以达到以上目 的的。 本篇论文旨在通过研究新闻语篇中转述引语的对话性，揭示意识形态，语言和权 力的关系。所有的例子都选自2 0 0 8 年7 月到8 月的纽约时报和今日美国，在 此期间，美国总统竞选中的两位候选人就伊拉克和阿富汗问题存在严重分歧，因而各 大媒体对其给予高度关注，新闻语料比较丰富。本文分别从两类报纸上选取了9 篇新 闻作为语料。 通过对所选语篇的定性分析和定量分析，我们发现2 0 0 8 年的总统大选中，媒体 对奥巴马胜出功不可没。首先，今日美国作为美国最年轻的主流媒体，是没有很 明显的政党倾向的，它大量引用了奥巴马及其支持者的正面言论以及权威人士和机构 对奥巴马的支持言论，对直接提升奥巴马在公众心中的形象有很大帮助。另外，纽 约时报是共和党的报纸，但在关于阿富汗和伊拉克的问题上，总体来说它也表示出 对民主党候选人奥巴马的支持。唯一不同的是，尽管整个大环境都倾向于奥巴马，纽 i i 硕士学位论文 m a
