从权力话语理论看归化与异化翻译策略的 选择以骆驼祥子英译本为例 专业：英语语言文学方向：翻译理论 硕士研究生：郑欣指导教师：孙恺祥 “归化和“异化”作为翻译中文化传递的两种基本策略， 在国内外引起了广泛讨论。概括而言，“归化是指译者采用适 合目的语语言文化习惯的流畅易懂的文体来翻译，其宗旨是尽可 能减少目标读者对外文本的生疏感；“异化”则是指翻译文本有 意识地保留原文本的异国风味，从而打破了翻译文本的语言及文 化习惯。 然而，在翻译过程中，翻译策略并不是由译者任意选择而是 必须遵循一定的规则，这就是权力话语规则。权力话语的概念最 初是由法国后结构主义哲学家福柯所提出。他认为，“权力”和 “话语”是不可分割的两个部分，而社会系统和权力体系对话语 实践有着不可忽视的影响。在福柯看来，完全自由和不受约束的 人类活动是不可能存在的，包括翻译活动在内的所有一切人类实 践受制于权力。权力话语理论为翻译研究带来了一场深刻的思想 革命，展现了权力体系控制翻译实践的过程，揭示了翻译活动的 社会性。 为此，本文选取老舍先生的名著骆驼祥子的两个英文译 本作对比研究。骆驼祥子是老舍先生的第一部重要作品，在 国内外获得巨大反响。尽管老舍的作品充满幽默， 骆驼祥子 却是一部真正的悲剧。他并未刻意在作品中表现幽默，而是刻画 了生活的真实面目。这部长篇小说批判了万恶的旧社会，也揭露 了在此时代下人们的梦想和希望的彻底破灭。作为小说的主人公， 生活在社会最底层却仍持有善良本性的祥子，其势单力薄的悲剧 性个体抗争激起了读者的无限同情。文中所选取的骆驼祥子 两个英文译本，一个是1 9 4 5 年美国人伊文金翻译的r i c k s h a w b o y ；另一个是1 9 8 1 年中国译者施晓菁翻译的c a m e lx i a n g z i 。这 两部译本创作于不同的时代和历史文化背景之下，因而译者在语 言以及文化两个层面上采取了截然不同的翻译策略。 本文运用权力话语理论，对这两部译本的翻译策略选择做进 一步的分析，从文化和语言双重角度讨论了翻译过程中归化及异 化策略的选择，力图揭示权力话语与翻译策略的内在关联以及前 者对后者的操控。翻译策略的选取与特定历史时期特定文化背景
