关于教师角色的讨论和研究很多，教师被称为促进者、权威、指导者、专家 或控制者。这些描述和讨论大部分都是关于教师在传授语言知识和引导活动时所 起的作用，却很少提及教师的另一个重要角色广_ 一中介者。在中介学习中，中介者， 即教师，要帮助学习者挑选合适的学习活动，使学生学会学习、处理问题、适应 各种文化情景和社会变化。费厄斯垣的中介作用理论指出了十二种中介特征，包 括使学习者认识到学习活动的必要性、自己控制学习进程以及促进学生的社会化 发展。尽管中介理论在世界得到广泛的应用，但是就教师的中介者作用，尤其是 第二外语教师的中介者作用却很少有人研究过。本研究试图在这方面进行初步的 研究。上， ，o 本文调查研究了教师对于中介者作用的主观看法和实际应用，并与学生的见 解进行了比较，晟后，把中国英语教师、学生和希腊英语教师、学生的看法进行 了对比。 本研究的调查对象是四十一名大学英语教师和九十五名大学二年级学鲥采 用的工具是w 弧孤s ，m b u r d e n ，r ( 1 9 9 7 ) 编写的问卷，十二个问题分别代表着 十二种中介作用，调查被试者对教师发挥这些作用的看法，例如帮助学习者设立 挑战、设定学习目标、培养个性等。问卷完成后，又对十位老师和十五名学生进 行了采访，意为得出更多的有关信薏站， ， 调查结果显示，中国大学英语教师在对待中介者角色上存在着主观看法和实 际运用的差别，主要表现在教师在某些方面不能充分体现中介者的作用；学生和 教师的主观看法也存在着较大的差别，例如，学生需要英语学习具有更大的挑战 性，希望能够意识到自身学习的进程，并且体现自我的发展。最后，通过中国和 希腊教师学生的比较，我们发现希腊外语教师更加注重帮助学生设立学习目标、 迎接挑战、发展个性、培养集体归属感等。而中国教师在这些方面显示出了较小 的兴趣。 总之，教师的中介者角色使语言教师能够成为学习者和学习过程及经验的中 介体，引导学生对有意义的刺激做出合适的反应、帮助他们理解任务的意义和目 标、促进他们形成控制自己行为的意识、信心和能力以及为他们创造适宜的心理 环境等。至于怎样更好的达到这些要求，培养真正意义上全面发展的学习者，仍
