摘要 弗兰纳里奥康纳( f l a n n e r y0 c o n n o r ) 被公认为是继威廉福克纳以来美国南方文学 最杰出的作家之一。她的作品以严肃的主题和独特的艺术风格深刻地揭示了当代社会中 个人与社会、信仰与现实、自我与本我、超我之间难以调和的矛盾，阐明了人的价值与 尊严在异化的社会中所面临的重重困境，表明了现代美国人的一种生存状态与生存心 理。智血是她的第一部长篇小说，颇能代表她的写作风格。该小说自一九五二年问 世后，立即轰动了美国文坛。国内外有关该小说的研究视角主要集中在宗教、新批评、 女性主义、存在哲学等方面。鉴于该小说主人公皈依宗教时充满矛盾、斗争的精神痛苦， 本文试图另辟蹊径，从弗洛伊德的精神分析入手对其作以尝试性的解读。其目的一方面 在于加深对小说主题的理解，说明在一个生活混杂与精神扭曲的社会中，人在信仰上的 迷惘与痛苦；另一方面旨在揭示弗兰纳里奥康纳所关注的是宗教的启示意义而非宗教的 惩罚机制。 文章认为，心理创伤是引发主人公焦虑的根源，而焦虑又推动了主人公走上堕落、 否定、反叛宗教的道路，并试图创建没有基督的宗教。然而，个人宗教的构建不仅未能 使主人公忘记创伤、克服焦虑、躲避基督、逃脱宗教，反而使其戴上更加沉重的精神枷 锁，陷入更深的恐慌与虚无混乱之中。主人公经过自我探索、自我反省，终于认清了人 性的本质和罪恶，摆脱了虚无的困境，抛弃了异端的学说，皈依基督。 文章包括六个部分。引言部分简略介绍奥康纳在美国文学中的地位、小说的主要情 节、国内外对该小说的研究状况，以及本论文的写作目的和意义。第一章是理论框架， 概述本文所运用的精神分析方法，主要论述弗洛伊德的心理人格学说及创伤、焦虑理论。 第二章根据创伤理论，从家庭、战争、社会等三方面探寻主人公黑兹尔莫茨创伤心理的
