s内容摘要在外语教学中，有一个问题引起越来越多的重视，那就是学生在阅读英语文章时出现一些理解上的错误。这种错误的理解或者说文章理解的障碍与英汉语言文化不同所反映的文化差异有密切的联系，因为外语阅读理解实际上是一种跨文化的交际，而学生对目的语文化的了解是成功地进行外语阅读理解的前提。在外语阅读过程中，读者的任务不仅仅是为了获得知识，更重要的是不同文化之间的交流，是读者与作者在交流思想的同时，读者批判地吸收外国优秀的文化成果。近年来，尽管外语界已逐步认识到外语学习和教学中文化因素的重要性，但在目前的英语阅读课教学中，仍有相当一部分教师讲课时只注重语言形式的讲解，而对于课文的背景知识一带而过，甚至干脆置之一旁。这种做法是不利于学生阅读理解能力提高的。有很多学英语的学生可能有过这样的经历：我们认识一个句子或一个段落的全部词语，也理解所有的语法结构，但仍不解其意。造成这种现象的主要原因是读者不了解英语语言的某些社会文化涵义和社会文化背景。为了促进外语阅读教学的发展，使学生意识到了解西方文化对提高阅读理解能力的重要性，切实帮助学生提高阅读理解能力，本文首先分析了学生在阅读英语读物的过程中所遇到的一些理解障碍，并说明这些理解障碍主要属于文化方面的障碍。接着，本文依据二十世纪七、八十年代以来国内外学者在文化背景知识对阅读理解的影响方面所做的研究，运用图式理论阐述了三种文化图式即内容图式、形式图式、语言图式对外语阅读理解的影响。接着，从文化和语言的关系的角度出发，分别从词汇、片语、句子、语篇等语言系统的不同层面，逐层论述了文化差异对终语阅读理解的影响，说明文化差异可以影响阅读理解的每一个环节。同时也提出了帮助学生克服阅读中所遇到的文化障碍的途径和方法，最后得出了文化差异对于阅读理解的障碍存在于语言学习的各个阶段的结论，并进一步强调了文化背景知识在外语阅读理解中的重要性。关键词：图式理论文化差异阅读理解i
