j 垒业! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! 璺! ! ! ! 竺型竺墅! ! ! ! ! ! ! 坚 摘要 礼貌是衡定人类文明的一个标准，是维系人际和谐的一种手段，也是参与社会活动 的一条准绳。作为一种社会活动，语言教学也受到了这条准绳的约束。从古至今，礼貌作 为语川学及社会语言学共同探讨的传统课题，这方面的研究成果可谓汗牛充栋，学者们 从各个领域对礼貌原则、礼貌策略等进行了大量的研究，但是将礼貌理论与英语教学结合 起米进行研究的现象并不多见。鉴于此，本文旨在浅析礼貌现象的基础上，以布朗和莱 文森的面子理论为依据研究礼貌策略在英语教学中的应用。文章首先回顾并比较了礼貌 的相关理论，如格米斯的合作原则、拉科夫的礼貌观、利奇的礼貌原则、布朗和莱文森 ( 1 9 7 8 ) 的面子理论，以及中国学者顾日国( 1 9 9 0 ) 提出的中国社会的礼貌准则等，接着又详 细论述了布【! i j 和莱文森的面子理论，为接下来的教学研究奠定理论基础。晟后，笔者结合 英语教学实际，从布朗和菜文森的面子理论模式出发，对教师常用的一些礼貌语言进行 了分类平研究，经过分析和比较，得出了各种礼貌策略的使用频率。 本研究表明面子理论的应州是课堂教学的一个重要特征。无论采用何种礼貌策略， 其目的都在丁更好地维护学生的面子，激发他们对英语的兴趣和自信，使教学在轻松和 谐的环境中进行。同时，面子理论在教学过程中的应用还可以使学生学习到它所反映的 西方文化，了解- 四方的民族心理。有了这个基础，学生们在跨文化交际时就会避免误解 和冒犯，最终提高自己的语川能力，而这也正是外语学习的最终目的。笔者在此抛砖引 玉，希望本研究能使对此感兴趣的教师和研究人员做出进一步的探讨，为礼貌英语教学 提供更为科!
