The home was shown to reporters and visitors at a music festival. The building company has developed large 3D-printers that build homes with mortar, a hard and strong material. It uses robotics, computer programs and advanced materials to make houses.Jason Ballard is the companys chief engineer. “So Im standing in front of the first 3D-printed home in America. This house was actually printed in high winds, blowing dust and rain.” It is important for the printing programmes to operate in bad weather conditions, such as weather disasters. The goal is to print homes in developing countries. So the printer has to be light enough to move from one property to the next.Ballard imagines that someday, many 3D-printers will operate around the world to make homes. “Its actually a lot more simple to build a printer than it is to build a house,” he said. “We ran this printer at about a quarter speed to print this house, and completed it in about 48 hours of print time.”The company developed this technology not to make money but to help provide a quick, cheap housing solution for the millions of people who need it most. There are about a billion people that dont have one of lifes most basic human needs, and thats a safe shelter.Ballard says his company already works on housing needs with poor families in different areas. But he says that to really make a difference, the program will need to be greatly improved. He added that since the 3D-printing process is so much faster than traditional homebuilding, a whole community could be built in just a few months. He believes over time, people can get the new home below $4,000 with the help of 3D-printers.21.What kind of building material can be used in 3D printing according to the passage?A.Light but strong.B.Light and soft.C.Strong but expensive.D.Hard and strong.22.What is the meaning of the underlined word “property” in Paragraph 3?A.Land for farming.B.Land for building houses.C.Land for raising animals.D.Land for running companies.23.It will take about hours to print a house if the printer is at its full speed.A.12B.24C.36D.4824.What is the best title for this passage?A.The Future of 3D PrintingB.The History of 3D PrintingC.The New Use of 3D PrintingD.The Instructions of 3D Printing.任务型阅读阅读短文,并按要求完成2529题。As is well known, saying “no” is not easy at all. But sometimes we have to learn to say “no”. To learn to say “no”, we have to first understand whats stopping us about it. There are some common reasons why people find it hard to say “no”.You want to help others. You are a kind soul at heart. You dont want to turn the person away and you want to help when possible, even if it may take up your time.Afraid of being rude. I was brought up under the idea that saying “no”, especially to people who are older, is rude. This thinking is common in Asian culture, where face-saving is important. It means not making others look bad or lose faces.Wanting to be agreeable. At times, you find you are not in agreement. You dont want to keep yourself away from the group, so you agree to do others requests.Fear of conflict(冲突). The person might be angry when you refuse him. This might lead to an ugly conflict. Even if there isnt, there might be disagreement which might lead to bad effects in the future.Fear of losing opportunities. Sometimes, saying “no” means closing doors or losing opportunities. It may make you feel worried. For example, one of my friends was asked to work in another department in her company. Since she liked her team, she didnt want to go. However, she didnt want to say “no” as she felt it would affect her promotion(晋升) opportunities in the future. 25、26题完成句子;27题简略回答问题;28题找出并写下文章的主题句;29题将文中画线句子译成汉语。25.In Asian culture, it is to say “no” to people who are older.26.At times, saying “no” means you dont want to be . 27.Why do you agree to do others requests?28.29.2019原创词语运用根据短文内容及所给提示,在文中的空白处填写一个正确的单词。On Sunday morning Tyler decided to ride 30.(he) bike to the park.
