摘要 词典一般将翻译定义为“把一种语言文字的意义用另一种语言文 字表达出来”。奈达指出：“翻译就是译意”。翻译的本质是语际问的 意义转换，“意义”是翻译中必须处理的核心问题。传统翻译理论把 意义和形式作为对立面加以研究有其不足之处，因为形式也可以传达 意义。符号学理论对符号的意义作了最全面的概括，认为意义是符号、 所指物和解释体三者之间一个错综复杂的关系网，并根据三者之间的 关系把符号的意义分为所指意义、语用意义和言内意义；文学语言内 涵丰富，意蕴深厚，因此我们可以把符号学理论应用到文学翻译上来， 充分挖掘原文的内在含义，并通过译入语忠实地传达出来。 本文首先介绍了符号学的内容、流派及其观点，提出了社会符号 学翻译法。接着回顾了意念论、指称论、行为表现论、功能论和符号 学等各派别对意义的定义，讨论了意义的分类问题，指出翻译的本质 是语际间意义的对应转换，文学翻译与非文学翻译不同之处在于前者 着重传达言内意义和语用意义，后者着重传达指称意义。 指称意义是符号与其所指对象之间的关系所表现的意义。英汉词 汇之间的指称意义分完全对应、部分对应和非对应三种情况。指称意 义的传译可采取直译法、释义或解释法、增译法和音译法。 言内意义是符号与符号之间的关系所表现的意义。言内意义存在
