It has inherited England literature traditions, such as the Greek Mythology and the ancient celtic culture. In addition to the romatic elements of western traditional cultureI, all kinds of problems of modern western society were reflected in the novels.So we can say that it was a literature work, which has fantastic property melting with tradition and modern, reality and fantasy. This work has attracted children and the grown-up reader from various countries because of its literary property and the ideological nature. It has raised the reading upsurge in the network and has formed a new literature phenomenon. The thesis will take the seven books as the objects of research and It explores the literary rescources of the novel series.The paper is divided into four parts. Introduction presents a brief biography of the author J. K. Rowling and a brief introduction of Harry Potter series as well as the critical reviews.Chapter one discusses the romantic elements of the novel,including Greek mytholigy and the antient celtic culture.Chapter two concentrates on the reality of British society,including feminist ideas, racial discrimination,inequality of different classes,obsession of hierarchy and Anti-Anthropocentrism. Rowlings books express her dissatisfaction with the inequality in the real word and she tries to write for the real equality, balance and harmony of the whole world. K. Rowlings Harry Potter series.There are seven books in the series and the majority of the books plot covers seven years in the life of the orphan Potter who,on his eleventh birthday, learned he is a wizard.Thus,he attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to practice magic under the guidance of the kindly headmaster Albus Dumbledore and other school professors.There,Harry met his two best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.Harry also discovers that he is already famous throughout the novels magical community,and that his fate is tied with that of Lord Voldemort,the nationally feared Dark Wizard and murderer of his mother and father.At the end of the whole story,Harry dies and then comes back to life to save mankind.In Harry Potter and the Philosophers Store, Harry Potter is orphaned as a baby because evil wizard Voldemort kills his parents.And he is adopted by his relative the Dursleys and lives ten years of miserable life.They hide Harrys identity and family background until one day Harry received a lot of letters from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.Harry, Ron and Hermione together look for the Philosophers Stone, a magical stone, and succeed in the battle against the Voldemort.Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is about Harry Potter battling prejudice. When Harry is enjoying his life in Hogwarts, several students who do not have pureblood are petrified, including Harrys best friend Hermione. With Hermiones advice, Harry discovers where the Chamber of Secrets is and he confronts his enemy Voldemort and his deadly monsters.The monsters are specialized to hurt Muggle-borns and half-bloods.Harry and his friend try to kill the mysterious monster to protect Muggle-borns and half-bloods and save Rons sister Ginnys life.In Harry Potter aced the Prisoner of Azkaba, Sirsus Black escapes from Azkaban prison which is in the charge of Demensters. Harry Potter realizes that perceptions of friends and enemies are sometimes misleading. Black is accused of betraying Harrys parents whereabouts to Voldemort. The notorious murderer Sirius Black escapes from the Azkaban prison. Actually Peter Pettigrew is the true criminal who betrays Harrys parents, and Sirsus Black is seeking revenge for Peter Pettigrew. Harry learns about his parents murder and Blacks innocence eventually. And Harry and Hermione help Black escape again from Dementors hunting.In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, on the opening ceremony of the fourth years,the headmaster Dumbledore announces an inter-school competition,Triwizard Tournament,will be held at Hogwarts.Goblet of fire chooses one student from each of three major magic schools.But Harry surprisingly becomes the fourth warriors goblet elected, even though he does not submit his name,and is underage. After many difficulties of the test, Harry and Cedric together reached its destination during games. They decided to pick up the winning cup. But it is unknown that trophy is a door key, which they brought to Voldemorts fathers grave where Cedric is killed by Voldemorts slave Peter Pettigrew. Harry is captured, and his blood is used to resurrect Voldemort.Harry prepares to duel him to the death,and Harry is triumphant again. Harry also witnesses the return of Voldemort. The Minister of Magic arrives at Hogwarts but refuses to believe Harrys word that Voldemort is back. But Dumbledore believes Harrys word, and he announces the return of Voldemort to everybody, and prepares upcoming battle with Voldemort.In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry finally leaves his cruel aunt and uncles house and arrives at the home of his godfather, Sirius Black. Dumbledore convenes members of the Order of the Phoenix to be ready to deal with Voldemort and Death Eaters. Harry and Ron, Hermione also organize a group of students to form a secret organization called Dumbledore Army, for preparations for the upcoming battle with Voldemort. In the Order of the Phoenix Harry saw long-unseen godfather Sirius black. Voldemort induces Harry by using the special relationships between Harry and Black to the ministry of magic. Voldemort tries to find secret prophecy about Voldemort and Harrys fate. Harry, Ron and Hermione try to stop Voldemort. In the battle to keep the prophecy secret, Black sacrifice for saving Harry. Harry loses his last relative. After the battle, Dumbledore tells Harry the most famous prophecy in magic world-Voldemort marks Harry for his enemy. Therefore, between Voldemort and Harry, only one lives in the world.In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price takes up the story of Harry Potters adventures in his sixth year at Hogwarts. Voldemort and Death Eater come back, and Hogwarts is no longer a safe haven. The old textbooks with signature as half-blood prince, is dug out in the teachers locker, helping Harry to become talents for potions. When the evil forces invade, worried Dumbledore begins to teach Harry alone. In Dumbledores class, Harry learns details about Voldemorts past,an unusual mysterious life. Through memories of Voldemorts past, Dumbledore and Harry realize: Voldemort intents to split his own soul through murder, manufacturing multiple Horcrux in order to be eternal. They begin to seek and destroy the Voldemorts Horcrux, and then Dumbledore injured. At the moment, Malfoy brings Death Eaters into school, and faculty and students at Hogwarts combat Death Eater. In battle, Snape kills Dumbledore with Arvada, the killing curse. Harry loses his last protector. Harry fails to capture Snape and Malfoy. Unexpectedly the Half-Blood Prince is neither Harry nor Voldemort, but is Snape. Dumbledores death makes Harry understand the responsibility on his shoulder. He decides to leave the school to complete the mission to destroy Voldemorts Horcruxes.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is last book of this series. In four days, Harry will be in his 17 years old of birthday, will be an adult wizard. However, he had to leave early 4 Privet Drive, leave forever where he once lived sixteen years. Members of the Order of the Phoenix attempt to escort Harry from the Dursleys to a safe house. They were attacked by Voldemort and his followers of the Death Eaters. Meanwhile,Voldemort tries to control the Hogwarts, after he already occupies the ministry of magic, taking control of almost half of magic world. The situation has plunged. Harry in the company of Ron, Hermione, has to escape out. They begin to travel the country, looking for Voldemorts Horcruxes and the means to destroy them. Because of their lack of plan, lack of food, and lack of progress, their spirits are often low. Then Ron leaves them for bad mood, but Hermione stays with Harry. They begin to learn about a mysterious trio of magical objects called the Deathly Hallows. Whoever possesses the three objects will be a master of death, and to Harry, its his chance to conquer Voldemort. Harry encounters Voldemort in the forbidden forest at Hogwards. However, Voldemort gets one of the Deathly Hallows.Voldemort then casts a killing curse at Harry, but the spell rebounds off Harrys disarming spell, killing Voldemort. Finally, Voldemort fails to fulfill his ambition. This time Voldemort really disappears, and Harry wins the final victory. Harry now understands more than he ever has about love, and life, and sacrifice, and in spite of the loss of many of his friends during the last battle, is grateful for the second chance he has been given at life, and love.1.2 “Mother of Magic”Joanne Rowling,better known as J. K. Rowling,is a British novelist, best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. She published all her Harry Potter works under the pen name J. K. Rowling. Fearing that the target audience of young boys might not want to read a book written by a woman, her publishers demanded that she use two initials, rather than her full name. As she had no middle name, she chose “K” as the second initial of her pen name, from her paternal grandmother Kathleen Ada Bulgen Rowling. Rowling was born on 31 July 1965 in Gloucestershire, England.Her mother Anne was half-French,half-Scottish. The family moved to the nearby village Winterbourne when Rowling was four. As a child, Rowling often wrote fantasy stories, which she would usually then read to her sister. She attended St Michaels Primary School and her headmaster at St Michaels, Alfred Dunn, has been suggested as the inspiration for the Harry Potter headmaster Albus Dumbledore.1 She attended secondary school at Wyedean School and College, where her mother, Anne, had worked as a technician in the Science Department.Rowling said of her adolescence, Hermione (A bookish, know-it-all Harry Potter character)is loosely based on me. Shes a caricature of me when I was eleven, which Im not particularly proud of.2 Sean Harris, her best friend,is the inspiration of Ron Weasley. Ron Weasley (Harrys best friend) isnt a living portrait of Sean, but he really is very Sean-ish. 3 Rowling read for a BA in French and Classics at the University of Exeter. After a year of study in Paris, she moved to London to work as a researcher and bilingual secretary for Amnesty International.In 1990, while she was on a four-hour-delayed train trip from Manchester to London, the idea for a story of a young boy attending a school of wizardry came fully formed into her mind.She told The Boston Globe that I really dont know where the idea came from. It started with Harry,then all these characters and situations came flooding into my head.4When she had reached herClapham Junction flat, she began to write immediately. In December of that year, Rowlings mother died. Rowling commented, I was writingHarry Potterat the moment my mother died”. She said this death heavily affected her writing and that she introduced much more detail about Harrys loss in the first book, because she knew about how it felt. On October 16th, 1992, she married Portuguese television journalist Jorge Arantes. Their child, Jessica was born on 27 July 1993 in Portugal.They separated in November 1993.In December 1993, Rowling and her daughter moved to be near Rowlings sister in Edinburgh, Scotland.During this period Rowling was diagnosed with clinical depression, and contemplated suicide.It was the feeling of her illness which brought her the idea of Dementors, soul-sucking creatures introduced in the third book. Surviving on social security, she completed her first novel.She wrote in many cafs, especially Nicolsons Caf,wherever she could get Jessica to fall asleep.In 1995, Rowling finished her manuscript forHarry Potter and the Philosophers Stone on an old manual typewriter. The book was submitted to twelve publishing houses, all of which rejected the manuscript.A year later she was finally given the green light (and a 1500 advance) by editor Barry Cunningham from Bloomsbury, a small publishing house in London.
