2011年12月 口语测试这是本学期12月份的口语测试题,请大家准备。考试时间定为第16周(即12月12日到12月18日这一周)。Dialogue 1 How to Get a Scholarship to CollegeSituation: Nowadays students are very independent and dont want their parents topay tuition for them. What are they going to do? Lets read the dialogue below.Ashley: Hi, Amy, whats going on with you? You look a little worried.Amy: Well, to tell you the truth, I am a little worried. Im trying to get a scholarship to college and cant seem to find the right connections.Ashley: Thats interesting. Im trying to dothe same thing.Ive talked with the high school counselor and she has given me some ideas. Want to hear them?Amy: You bet! Ashley: OK, Ill be glad to share them with you. Lets go and get a cup of coffee and talk.Amy: Great. Im very interestedto know what the ideas are. You know, my parents cant afford to send me to the university so I need some financial help.Ashley: Me too! So Id be happy to share my ideas with you. Amy: Thanks a lot, Ashley, that would be a great help. Ashley: First of all, you needto go to the school office and get thescholarship application forms, fill them out andgive them to the counselor so she will know you are looking forscholarship help.Amy: OK.Ashley: I know your GPA (grade point average) is really high so that will give you a leg upon the competition. Are you aware of what scholarships are available?Amy: I know that some banks are offering scholarships.Ashley: Thats right. TheConstruction Bank is offering the best ones. And they prefer to give them to students who will be studying economics.Amy: Thats exactlywhat I want to study. I want to work in the financial area - maybe insurance or something like that.Ashley: Oh, thats too complicated for me. Robert and Shirley are talking about who is the bestcandidate. Eric: Hi, Tom, whats up?Tom: Oh, hi, Eric. Sorry, I didnt see you. I was just doing some heavy thinking.Eric: What about?Tom: Imthinking about running fora seat on the Student Union Committee.Eric: What on earth for? I wouldnt do that if they gave it to me - much less do all the work of campaigning. Its too much work.Tom: I know what you mean, but, I see a lot of things that need to be done and I think Ihave the skills to get them accomplished. Even more, it will give me experience in working with others as a group.Eric: Id much rather work alone - I dont need a lot of people holding me back, or nixing my ideas.Tom: I like workingwith people. Iwant to improve myleadership skills and I think this will be a good way to gain experience.Eric: Not me. I like working alone.Tom: Will you help me campaign for the committee? Eric: Sure, if I can work up some ideas on my own.Tom: Thatll be OK. I think that would be a good way to get me some new ideas and itll also give yousome experience.Eric: Hey, that sounds like a win-win situation for both of us. Doctor is the doctor and Beck is suffering from a bad cold.Doctor: Please take a seat. So what seems to be the problem?Beck:I think I have a bad cold. It seems that I have a fever. I have been suffering from this terrible headache. I have a sore throat, and my nose is stuffy. Doctor:Let me take your temperature. Please put the thermometer under your armpit. Now open your mouth and say “Ah” so that I can look at your throat. Yes, your throat is congested. And your tonsils are red and swollen. Do you cough?Beck:Yes, quite a lot. The cough kept me awake. And my roommates were woken up by it.Doctor: Please unfasten your coat and let me listen to your chest. Now, breathe in, hold it, and breathe out. Do it again, do you have any pain in your chest?Beck: Yes, I feel a little bit of pain while I cough.Doctor: There is nothing to worry about. You seem to have come down with the flu that is going around. I think you need an injection. Are you allergic to penicillin?Beck:No. Do I have to take the injection? will it hurt? Doctor:Youd better take an injection. Take it easy, it wont hurt. Here is the prescription. Beck:Will it take long for me to get over this?Doctor: No. Just drink plenty of water and stay in bed for two or three days.Beck:Can I go to class?Doctor: Youd better take two days off.
