My friend Matt and I arrived at the Activity Centre on Friday evening. The accommodation wasnt wonderful, but we had everything we needed (beds, blankets, food ), and we were pleased to be out of the city and in the fresh air。On Saturday morning we met the other ten members of our group. Cameron had come along with two friends, Kevin and Simon, while sisters Carole and Lynn had come with Amanda. There were some other members I didnt know. We had come from different places and none of us knew the area。We knew we were going to spend the weekend outdoors, but none of us was sure exactly how. Half of us spent the morning caving while the others went rock-climbing and then we changed at lunchtime. Matt and I went to the caves (岩洞) first. Climbing out was harder than going in, but after a good deal of pushing, we were out at last. Though we were covered with mud, we were pleased and excited by what wed done。This passage mainly talks about _。A. the writers friends at the Activity CenterB. the writers experience at the Activity CenterC. outdoor sports at the Activity CenterD. how to go rock-climbing and caving参考答案B 上述这段短文的中心是说明“the writers experience at the Activity Center。”。 If someone asks me: “Do you like music?” Im sure I will answer him or her: “Of course, I do。” because I think music is an important part of our lives。Different people have different ideas about music. For me, I like rock music because its so exciting. And my favorite rock band, the “Foxy Ladies” (酷妹) is one of the most famous rock bands in the world. I also like pop music. My classmate LiLan loves dance music, because she enjoys dancing. My best friend, Jane, likes jazz music (爵士乐). She thinks jazz is really cool。“I like dance music and rock very much。” says my brother, “because they are amazing。”But my mother thinks rock is boring. “I like some relaxing (轻松的) music,” she says. Thats why she likes country music, I think。The writer likes music because he thinks _。A. its an exciting part of our livesB. its an amazing part of our livesC. its an important part of our livesWhat kind of music does the writer like?A. Rock and pop music. B. Rock and dance music. C. Jazz and country music。Who likes dancing?A. The writer. B. Li Lan. C. Jane。The writers mother thinks that country music is _。A. amazing B. boring C. relaxing How many peoples ideas about music are talked about in this passage (短文)?A. 4. B. 5. C. 6. 答案分别为 C A B C B。 Water is all around us. Water is in the ocean. Water is in the lakes and rivers. Water is in the air. There is more water than land on the earth. All living things must have it. We must have it, too. We cannot live without drinking water. Sometimes, we do not have all the water that we need. The land will dry up without water. Sometimes, there can be too much water in the land. If it rains very, very hard, the rain water will run down the hill. It takes some of the land with it when it runs down the hills. It is called erosion when the water takes the land away。“Erosion” in the passage means _。A. If it rains very, very hard, the rain water will run down the hills. It takes some of the land with it when it runs down the hills。 如:This material is unreadable。 A. The herdsman, who looks after sheep, earns about 650 yuan a year。 B. Like her younger sister who is gregarious, Alice also likes to make friends。句首的 like(像)这个语境线索说明:句中的gregarious与 likes to make friends意义相近。 One day Mrs Wison went shopping with Tracy and Ben. They went to the supermarket in the new shopping center。“Why do you buy things here?” Tracy wanted to know. “Because they are cheaper here than at the corner store near our home,” Mrs. Wilson said. “Help me check the prices, please。”The Wilsons were not rich and Mrs. Wilson was always careful with her money. She looked carefully at the prices of things. She bought lots of things in the supermarket. When they got home, the children said, “We dont think you saved money by going to the supermarket。” “Of course I did,” Mrs. Wilson said “Everything was cheaper there。”“We know,” the children said, “but we came home by taxi because we had too much to carry. The taxi fare was more than the money that you saved !”Mrs Wilson added everything up. Her children were right。“Well done,” she said. “Next time well do the shopping nearby。”The things at the corner store were _ than those in the supermarket。A. cheaper B. nicer C. more expensive D. Better Mrs. Wilson _ in the end。A. spent more money B. paid less moneyC. lost some money D. saved a little money这两个问题都是细节性问题,但又不能直接从文章中得出答案,要经过分析和计算间接地获得事实细节。选C。由 Mrs. Wilson 的话“Because they are cheaper here than at the corner store near our home. ”分析可知the things at the corner store were more expensive.选A。 Mrs. Wilson spent more money in the end。 What is the main idea of this passage? What ist he best title of this passage? 阅读理解(一)(一)(2013,天津)My grandfather Jack is 96 years old,and he has had an interesting life.He has travelled a lot in his life in the Far East.He visited the Taj Mahal in India and the Pyramids in Egypt. He hunted (狩猎) lions in Africa, and rode a camel in the Sahara Desert. He says the most beautiful place he has travelled to is Kathmandu in Nepal.Jack has married twice. His first wife died when she was 32.He met his second wife Maria while he was cycling round France. They have been married for 50 years, and they have lived happily in a small village since they got married.Jack says that he has never been ill in his life. The secret of good health, according to my grandfather,is exercise. He goes swimming every morning. He has done this since he was a boy.He also has a glass of wine every night!Perhaps that is his secret!1What kind of life has Jack lived?AA short life. explain things that happen around us.Many things happen because something caused or influenced them to happen.Sometimes it is hard to look at a cause and find out what causes the effect. It may help you to start with the effect and use your reasoning (推理的) skills.Think about all the things you know that could be reasons for the effect you can see.For example, you may see someone putting on a heavy jacket. This is the effect. To look for a cause, think to yourself,“What would make someone put on a heavy jacket?”Maybe the person is going outside into very cold weather.Maybe the person works in the penguin pen (企鹅圈养地) at Sea World.Maybe the person is going to visit an ice skating rink where the air is kept very cold. All of these things could be a cause for putting on a heavy jacket. Now,think about a second example. The effect is a boy named Abi has to go to the head teachers office. What are the possible causes?Maybe he bullied (欺负) another student.Maybe he is just being picked up early.Maybe he is being given a prize! Here is another example for you to think about its cause and effect.Cait,13,was trying to fall asleep when her 8yearold brother,Doug, came into her room.He looked it in school?Jenny Sanders,a high school student in California, asks,“What good do we get from learning math?We can use computers to compute numbers, and we can use computers to store information.I think learning math at school is a waste of time.”However, there is much more to math than just learning to add and subtract(减) numbers. In fact, math is not so much about calculation (计算) as it is about learning to think logically (逻辑地) and solving problems.Of course,Jenny was right that we can use computers to do calculations, but how would we even know how to use the computer if we cant think logically? In short, computers are only tools when solving problems. For example, imagine you are a cook and must serve dinner to 100 guests. How should you divide your resources so that you can get the
