定冠词the的用法The definite article the is the most frequent word in English.定冠词the是英语中最常用的单词。We use the definite article in front of a noun when we believe the hearer/reader knows exactly what we are referring to.当听的人和读者确切知道我们指得是什么时，我们用定冠词the修饰名词。because there is only one:因为是唯一的：The Pope is visiting Russia.The moon is very bright tonight.The Shah of Iran was deposed in 1979.This is why we use the definite article with a superlative adjective:这就是为什么用定冠词修饰最高级：He is the tallest boy in the class.It is the oldest building in the town.because there is only one in that place or in those surroundings:because we have already mentioned it:上文中已提及过：A woman who fell 10 metres from High Peak was lifted to safety by a helicopter.
