These are the markers of the relationship we all have with social media now, which started out just as a way to communicate with one another.According to a recent study by experts at the University of Georgia, there may be more to it than that. The findings suggested some unmistakable correlations between social media use and whats known as “grandiose narcissism (浮夸的自恋)”. People crazily post their pictures and update their personal status online to make themselves known to others. Their posts are always in their very best light. After all, its a quick and easy way to get some muchneeded attention. When does social media use become a problem? The University of Georgia carried out the research according to the following questions: How long do people spend on social media? How often do they tweet or update statuses? How many friends or followers do they have? How many selfies do they tend to post? If you do all the above things, it likely sends signals about your personality. All of these online actions have one thing in common: They are all ways in which we try to promote ourselves online. Therefore, its how you use the platform that counts. Then, exactly how much time spent online is too much? The researchers didnt measure. However, another study from Baylor University listed SALIENCE (social platforms becoming necessary in your daily life) and EUPHORIA (the feeling of excitement when you use them) among other things as signs of addiction. That is to say, if you are always busy with social media on a daily basis, it could be a sign that you have a harmful relationship with it.Therefore, its how you use the platform that matters. Social media itself means no harm. Instead, more benefits can be got if you use it carefully and wisely. 1According to the author, whats the original purpose of social media?ATo post selfies.BTo make new friends.CTo share personal life.DTo exchange information. 根据第一段中的“which started out just as a way to communicate with one another”可知,社交媒体出现的最初目的是方便人们交流信息。2According to research of the University of Georgia, _.Asocial media has become a stage to show oneselfBmost social media users have become addicted to itCwhat appears on social media is not always trustworthyDits necessary for us to check our messages from time to time解析:选A细节理解题。根据第二段中的“People crazily post their pictures and update their personal status online to make . muchneeded attention.” 3What can we know from the last but one paragraph?ANowadays most people use social media too much.BWe should get rid of social media from our daily life.CWhether one has social media addiction can be measured.DScientists have given the suggested time spent on social media. 根据倒数第二段“However, another study . among other things as signs of addiction.” 4From the passage, we can know that the author thinks social media _.Acan be a useful tool in our lifeBshouldnt be used by teenagersCcan give us more friendsDhas brought much harm to society解析:选A推理判断题。 At each stage of our life, we meet different kinds of people.
