Unit 9 What does he look like? 听说课 SectionB (1a-1e ) 第四课时 Learning Goals:一、语言知识:(常用词汇和句型)nose , mouth , round , face , eye , singer My favorite singer is John Jackson. Hes tall and thin. He has short curly brown hair.二、语言技能:继续让学生学会从其他角度描述人物外貌,如:头发、脸型、五官、眼镜、职业等;同时通过听说活动,进一步巩固描述人物外貌特征的形容词、短语及句型结构。三、学习策略:通过看图画能尽可能完整的描述人的外貌;通过听力活动,能够根据所听内容中人物的外貌描述推断出正确的形象。四、情感态度: 通过描述同学、自己、偶像的外貌,简单地表达自己的观点或好恶,学会交换不同的看法,使学生在人际交往中学会尊重和理解别人。并培养正确的审美观。五、文化意识:在英美等西方国家,fat作为形容词,描述人时意义趋于消极,往往使用一些意义中性的词heavy或委婉的词语heavy-set等。描述某人很瘦,常用slim显得更为礼貌。描述男人用handsome , 描述女人用beautiful , pretty 。通过描述不同人的外貌,对学生进行不同文化意识的渗透。【设计意图】目标引领,表述了本节课的知识、能力、学习策略、情感态度和文化意识。Teaching and leaning steps: StepI. Pre-listening activities1. Preview 一、Look at P52, put the following into English orally, then write them down without looking at the text. Warming up and leading inThe teacher shows a picture of Han Hong to the students .T: Please look at the picture , do you know her?Ss: Yes . She is Han Hong .T: What does she look like? Who can describe her ?S1: She is of medium height and a little heavy .S2: She has short straight black hair.S3: She always wears glasses. S4: She has a round face .S5: She wears sports clothes . Shes beautiful .【设计意图】出示一张歌唱家韩红的照片,让学生根据所学的内容对韩红的外貌进行描述,这既调动了学生的兴趣又复习了上节课学习的内容。学生描述完韩红后有了一定的成就感,教师再出示几张图片让学生从其他角度再描述人物,如:头发、脸型、五官、眼镜等,让学生完成1a任务,同时引导学生用完整句子描述人物。如果学生语言能力较强,可让他们对人物进行更细致的描述,如果学生语言能力较弱,只需要求他们分别用句子来描述1a人物特征即可。3. Have a competition ( 1b )The teacher shows students some pictures about famous people and tells them to have a competition. When you see the picture, please tell me who he / she is and what he /she looks like . You can stand up without putting up your hands. Then Ill give you one mark. Lets see which group is the best.You can make sentences like this:Shes . Shes short and thin. She has curly blond hair. She has a small mouth and big eyes ,etc . 【设计意图】教师出示同学们比较熟悉的名人图片,采用竞赛的方式,快速描述这些人的外貌。学生积极性很高,能在小组活动中积极与他人合作,相互帮助,共同完成学习任务, 尽情享受学习的乐趣。这样不但培养了他们的概括和推理能力,还发挥了他们自己的主观能动性,把被动的学习变为主动学习,在乐趣中让学生巩固了所学语言知识。4. Play a guessing game.Ask Ss to describe anyone in the classroom or describe his /her teacher of this class. Let the others guess. Each student will have twice chances .Lets see who is the winner.for example:She is my good friend. She is of medium height and she is thin. She has long straight hair. She wears glasses, please guess who she is.【设计意图】这个游戏的安排目的是让学生通过他人的描述,去发现别人的外部特征。培养学生听、说以及辨别能力,由于是对同班同学或他们的班级老师进行描述,学生的积极性和参与度都比较高,课堂气氛较活跃。达到了学以致用,也为下一步的听力扫清了障碍。StepII. While-listening activities1. Listen for the general idea of 1cLook at the two persons in the picture , do you want to know something about them? Lets listen and choose the best answer to the question. The best describerDescribe what your favorite singer or athlete looks like. (1) Look at the mind map above and let students describe the person like this : My favorite athlete is Yao Ming. Now let me tell you what he looks like. He is really tall . He has short black hair and big eyes . He is of medium weight . He has a square face and a long nose . He often wears sports clothes and shoes . I think he is handsome and good-looking .(2) The teacher chooses a students mind map about his / her favorite singer or athlete from each group and shows them on EN . The student who designs the mind map describes his / her favorite singer or athlete , the other students listen to him / her carefully . Look at who is the best describer .【设计意图】老师从每一组中任意抽取一位同学设计的思维导图,并把它展示在一体机上,让这位同学根据他/她的设计来描述,其他同学认真听,必要时老师和同学们给予帮助。老师给学生提供表达与展示自己的机会,让学生运用所学内容挑战自我,从而达到了培养学生综合运用英语的能力,是知识转化为能力进而提高能力的重要环节。Step IV. Inquiry into knowledge by translationAsk the Ss to look at the following sentence and try to remember the knowledge points .The Ss can help each other and have a discussion after doing the following by themselves.一、Jackie Chan has black hair._1. 这里has意为“_”,是动词。在表示“理发”时用短语have ones hair cut。如:She _ her hair cut.2. 这里hair是_名词,指头发的整体。hair也作_名词,指一根或几根头发。如:She doesnt have a single gray hair._二、Hes tall and thin._high 和tall都有“_”的意思。high一般表示_,它的反义词是_。如:你能看见那堵高墙吗?_那棵大树约有十米高。The big tree is about ten meters _.high还可以用作比喻,有“高度的”、“高级的”、“高等的”等意思,这时不宜用tall替换。如:high price(高价),high fever(高烧)等。tall可指_,一般用于人和动物,它的反义词是_。Li Ping is taller than Wei Fang.李萍比魏芳个子高。【设计意图】教师要引导学生运用他们从实践中的感知来尝试归纳语言规律,然后再给以必要帮助。通过小组讨论的形式可获得更为准确的答案。StepV.The end-of class test一、 根据句意及首字母提示补全单词。1. Homework.必做:Let students look at the pictures in Section B (1a) , then make eight complete sentences .选做:Ask Ss to draw a picture of “What do you look like when you are 20 years old? ” and describe it.【设计意图】分层布置作业,第一层作业帮助学生巩固本课所学基础知识和目标语言;第二层作业在此基础上,把所学知识运用到实际生活中,提高学生综合运用语言的能力,学以致用。教学反思:亮点:1.导入新课时出示一张韩红的照片,让学生根据所学的内容对韩红的外貌进行描述,这既调动了学生的兴趣又复习了上节课学习的内容。学生描述完韩红后有了一定的成就感,教师再出示几张图片让学生进行描述以此来进一步巩固目标语言。2.Have a competition环节,教师出示同学们比较熟悉的名人图片,采用竞赛的方式,快速描述这些人的外貌。学生积极性很高,能在小组活动中积极与他人合作,相互帮助,共同完成学习任务, 尽情享受学习的乐趣。Play a guessing game 环节,让学生描述班里好朋友的外貌或本班代课老师,其他同学进行猜测,由于是对同班同学或最熟悉的老师进行描述,学生的积极性和参与度都比较高,达到了训练的目的。3.在听力环节,注重对学生听前的指导,提高听的效能。同时情感教育寓于教学之中,培养学生正确的审美观,不以貌取人,使学生在人际交往中学会尊重和理解别人。4.在听后环节中,让学生自己绘制思维导图,回忆自己在这一单元中所学的有关描述人的形容词,并把这些形容词合理地安排在自己所喜爱的歌手或运动员身上,然后上讲台用一体机展示自己的杰作并向同学描述他最喜爱的人物形象。其他同学认真听,也可以提出问题。老师给学生提供了表达与展示自己的机会,他们能上讲台演讲而感到自豪,能够受到同学们的鼓掌欢迎而兴奋,同时也能够得到台下同学们的指点和帮助,从而达到了培养学生综合运用英语的能力。不足之处:1.Have a competition环节,虽然学生能够站起来大胆描述,为给自己的小组争分而抢先别人站起来,课堂气氛非常活跃,但大都是中上等学生参与,其他学生得不到有效练习。Play a guessing game这个环节,虽然学生的参与度很高,练习的也比较充分,但由于学生的身高、体型、以及发型比较相似,所以猜测起来有一定的难度,课堂秩序有点混乱。2.学生绘制思维导图并上台描述,用的时间过长,导致后面的当堂达标时间仓促。改进建议:1. Have a competition环节,首先老师提出要求:如果学生语言能力较强,就让他们对人物进行更细致的描述,如果学生语言能力较弱,只需要求他们说出一个或两个句子来描述人物特征即可。这样就尽可能地让绝大多数同学参与了。Play a guessing game环节,要求学生在描述的过程中要抓住被描述人的典型特征,特征不明显的,也可以从其喜好方面进行描述。同时要强调游戏规则。2. 学生绘制思维导图并描述,老师可让两位同学展示其绘图来描述,为了保证同学们的充分练习,可把这一项放在课后由小组长监督完成。答案:1.
