And her novels are mostly concerned with social comedy and accurate vision of human relationship. Being the seventh child of a country parson, Jane Austen was born on December 16,1775 at Steventon in Hampshire .In her early ages ,she was encouraged reading extensively by her sensitive and intelligent father, which has laid a good foundation for her career of writing . With her own talent and endeavor , she becomes a productive writer. Though she had written piles of literary works , it was not until 1811 that Sense and Sensibility was first published . Later, her predominant works, such Pride and Prejudice ,Mansfield Park ,Emma , Persuasion , Northanger Abbey were published in succession . These six magnificent works pushed her on the crest of the wave.Jane Austen, who came of a good family , was surrounded by her live and affectionate family . Thats the very factor contributes to her career a lot .As we all know , Jane Austens life is often noted for its lack of events . Being an intelligent and enchanting woman , she did attract several suitors and even accepted a proposal from one admirer only to change her mind the following morning . Jane Austen didnt get married all her life. And she died in 1817.Usually, Jane Austens novels are mirrors which reflect her own characteristics and real life. Her self-contained, changeable traits, feminism and happy disposition manifest vividly in her works . In virtue of her humorous, far-reaching writing style, she has wined numerous readers heart. Taking Emma for example, it is such a successful novel that it deserves the celebrities praise and our appreciation. The language is accurately and elegantly expressed. It is a real feast to our eyes. Emma, a happy creature, always hold the positive attitude toward life, hence , in the past twenty-one years , there were little things distress or vex her . She was the youngest of the two daughters. Luckily, she has a most affectionate farther but too indulgent to her. And her mother died when she was quite young. Afterward, Miss Taylor, being a governess for 16 years at her home, has taken much care of Emma, not only on her study but also daily life. Thus, between Emma and Miss Taylor, it was more the intimacy of sisters. Still, in consequence of her sisters marriage, Emma has been mistress of her family from a very early period. However , the gentle sorrow came with the marriage of Miss Taylor and Mr Weston .Seldom did she had the chance to have dinner together with the Woodhouse . For the sake of dispersing isolation and sorrow, Emma made acquaintance with Harriet immediately. And Harriets intimacy in Hartfield was soon a settled thing. Though others thought that was not a wise, Emma continued her own belief . Both of them share happiness and sorrow together. Emma always so warm-hearted that she take the liberty to be the match-maker between Harriet and Elton . Taking their social rank ,education and other aspects into consideration , she thought these two was a perfect match . Once Mr Knightley and Mrs Weston told her of the impossibility of this marriage , Emma just was totally deaf to their suggestions . Whats more , she tried her uttermost to make chances for them to develop their relationship . In the following days , Mr Elton gradually became a regular of Hartfield . Usually , these three were mingled with each other , dieting with Mr Woodhouse , writing and guessing riddles pleasantly , getting the picture framed and so forth . It seemed that Mr Elton was almost too gallant to be in love with Harriet . And Harriet soaked herself in his affection and care , she did think him all perfection ,and maintained the nonexistence of any body equal to him in person or goodness, and did prove herself more resolutely in love than Emma had foreseen . Unexpectedly , the process of this marriage was far beyond Emmas anticipation . On the Christmas party , with a lot of alcohol to alleviate his spirit , Mr Elton expressed his love and appreciation to Emma , which was much to astonished her . What an absurd idea! Without any hesitation , she rejected his proposal at once .At that moment , her unpleasant sensations was uppermost .The next day , Mr Elton departured. The reasons remained unknown. One mother later , Mr Elton happily returned , with an elegant ,noble , amiable young lady, Miss Hawkins . Their engagement was heatedly discussed and kindly spoken of . As to Harriet, this piece of news was a flash of lightning to her , she was almost broken into pieces. From then on , seldom did she came to Harriet, let alone to home parties . Time was the best cure for her . However , Emma was more keen on attending on the big parties than usual, which brought her a large group of new friends . Mostly , for the sake of savoring Mr frank Churchills handsome appearance and good disposition , she frequently went to visit Westons . Especially , a very quiet reflection was enough to satisfy Emma as to the nature of agitation on hearing the news of Mr Frank Churchill . Fancinated by his goodness, she confessed a good feeling to him . But she reminded herself that a caution for him and for herself would be necessary . With the development of the plot , things were getting changed suddenly . Frank came back to Hatfield as he had promised , together with Emma , he hold a big ball out of entertainment . Everyone had a good time there , so did Harriet . Afterward , she was followed and frightened by a gang of gypsies , it was Mr Frank who give her a hand at the critical moment . And Harriet was eagerly clinging to him ,and hardly able to speak . Just at this precise moment , Emma came across the scene. Out of sympathy and guilty to Harriet , Emma decided to help her win Franks heart this time , for in her eyes , Frank was a perfect man without any demerits , she was the only right man that could give Harriet a brand new life . The following day , this issue aroused a heated discussion in an instant .Later it turned out that Frank had no feelings to Harriet. Again, Emma made a wrong judgment . Never could Harriet bear another hurt , she chose to drawn away by her engagement with the Martins ,and was less and less at Hartfield, which was indeed a great relief to Emma .Naturally , they got married with lots of friends bless and wishes. Her guilty was lightened and she had grown a lot from these experiences . Overturned her former conceit and self importance , gradually she became more amiable and considerate. Actually , from the beginning to end , Mr Knightely was the person who cared Emma most expect her father .Though ,in early times , he had fierce debate on trivial matters,he had an exquisite love to Emma . Later , what made all the people happy was Emmas acception of his proposal . Eventually, Emma found the perfect right man herself, and their marriage brought a happy ending to this novel .From the whole point of view, Emma is a classic romantic comedy of love and marriage . In this novel, everyone has a particular personality . Being an affectionate and indulgent father, Mr Woodhouse cares much about his relativess health as well as other friends . A little bit aloof and distant as Mr Knightely is , he loves Emma from the bottom of his heart . Harriet , the intimate friend of Emma , has grown up a lot . All of them have their strong points and weak points , which constitute their own character . Whereas, Emmas personality stands out of all . Her warm heart, happy disposition , conceit , self-eccentric , feminism , rolled into one totally , which impressed me most . She is a feminist. As we all know, in the19th century of England, it is extremely rare for a young woman to be a match-maker , let alone to have no idea of marriage . A an exceptional, she is brave enough to break the shackles of conservative conventions. She votes for celibacy, in her eyes , a single woman , of good fortune , is always respectable , and maybe as sensible and pleasant as anybody else . Unlike other women, thanks to her bossy wit , she insists her own belief and pursuits . She is conceit and self-importance. All the time , she makes decisions according to her own thoughts , and even sometimes , she keeps deaf to others suggestions . Taking Harriet and Mr Elton for example, out of consideration and care , Emma makes chances for them to develop relationship enthusiasticly .Though Mr Knightely and Mrs Weston once reminded her the impossibility of this matter , she kept on doing it . However , latter it turned out that he had no feelings to her , which brought Harriet a great sorrow . To some degree , her warm heart is submerged by her conceit . She is a little bit temporal . there is no doubt that she is a shinning example of 19th century socialite . Beautiful , clever and wealthy , she fancies herself a match-maker , who believes that “ there is nothing more beautiful than a match well made . Convin
