Teaching Objectives:By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: 1. know the key vocabulary and phrases: time, oclock, half, past, art, chemistry, Chinese, English, history, maths, science, physics, P.E. 2. understand and know how to use theses sentence patterns: 1) What are your lessons today?2) When is your lesson? 3) Its oclock/ half past./pass/to 4) I have/dont haveat+具体时间5) I like/dont like 3. know the importance of the lessons that they are learning.4. be happy to communicate with others in English when talking about their school days.Teaching Content:Vocabulary and listeningTeaching Method: bottom-up model and task-based language teaching.Teaching difficult and important points:1. The important points: 1) key vocabulary and phrases: time, oclock, half, past, art, chemistry, Chinese, English, history, maths, science, physics, P.E. 2) key sentence structure: a. What are your lessons today?b. When is your lesson? c. Its oclock/ half past./pass/to. d. I have/dont haveat+具体时间.e. I like/dont like . 2. The difficult points: Its oclock/ half past./pass/to I have/dont haveat+具体时间Teaching Aids: 1. tape recorder;2. tape; 3. blackboard; 4. some pictures; 5. chalks.Teaching Procedures:Step 1: Warming-up (3mins):T: Hey! Everyone, its good to see you. How are you today?Ss: Fine. Thank you, and you?T: Im fine, too. (another two questions: whats the date today; what day is it today) Before class begins, I will show you some pictures (show the picture). Can you tell me what happens in the picture?Ss: A boy is late for the school. (Other answers will be expected.)T: Great! Then why is he late? (Show the second picture.) Ss: He gets up too late. (Other answers will be expected.)T: Thats right. So, we know the importance of time. Now, lets see how to express the time correctly.Step 2: Pre-reading (23mins):A. Vocabulary and phrases learning (10mins)T: (show the picture) Do you know what time is it in the picture, class?Ss: 8 oclock.T: Great! Read it after me. Eight oclock. (repeating) T: Right. Ok, next one. How to say 8点半in English? Ss: Half past eight.T: Whats the time now? Ss: I dont know.T: Thats OK. Now, pay attention to this pattern: Its oclock/ half past.现在点/点半. When we want to say “现在8点钟”, we can say “Its eight oclock”. If we want to say “现在8点半”, we can say “Its half past eight”. Got it? Ss: Yes.T: Good. Lets have a try. How to say “现在5点钟” in English? (teacher tells more structures about time to the students, including Its oclock/half past./pass/toand then asks students do the activity2 on P42.)T: Very good. Now, I want to ask you a question.T: Whats this? (The teacher shows the students several pictures: art, chemistry, Chinese, English, history, maths, physics, P.E. and science.) T: Youre so great! Now please read the words that I show you in the picture.Ss: art, chemistry, Chinese, English, history, maths, science, physics and P.E.(after this teacher tells students to do activity3 on P42.) B. Sentences learning (13mins)T: Ok. Now, Id like to ask you some questions: first, whats your favorite lesson? Any volunteer? Ss: English. T: Why do you like it?Ss: Because English is useful. T: Great (tell a joke to them: two car pengpeng, one car die, I see red water, please call woo-ah-woo-ah-woo). English is very important because it is very useful, and we must learn it, right? Ok. Then you can say like this: I like English. 我喜欢英语课。When is your English lesson? 你的英语课在什么时候上? Ss: 8 oclock. T: Great. You can say: I have English at eight oclock. 我在8点钟有英语课。Sit down, please. Here, pay attention. “have lesson” 意思是上课,“I have lesson”表示“我上课”, “I dont havelesson” 表示“我不上课”. This pattern can be used when you know the lesson. But if we dont know what the lessons we are going to have, we must use this pattern: “what are your lessons today”. 你今天有什么课. The answer should be “I have atand at”, 同样的,“I like ”表示“我喜欢”, “I dont like” 表示“我不喜欢”. Class, please read it after me: I like English. Ss: I like English.T: I have English at eight oclock. Ss: I have English at eight oclock.(teacher gives more example and asks some students to answer the questions, and then mentions the situation that the third person is used here.)Step 3: While- reading (7mins)3.1. Students listen to the tape for three times.T: Do you still have any problem? If no, please look at P43. Listen to the tape carefully and get some information about their school days to check the true sentences. Pay attention to the key words, especially the numbers. I will play it twice. (after the tape playing) T: Finish? Lets check the answers. Any volunteer? (teacher asks some students to do it and play the tape the third time to correct the sentences.)3.2. Students do the group reading.T: Now, I want the whole class read it together. One, two, begin.Ss: (reading)T: Now I want you to read the passage again. I will read what Daming says, boysLingling, girlsBetty. One, two, begin. Ss: (reading)Step 4: Post-reading (5mins)T: Now, please talk about your lessons with your deskmates. You can use the sentences on the blackboard as your example, and I will ask some of you to show your conversation. Lets begin. (after about 2 minutes.)T: Good. Now who want to show your classmates your conversation? Ss: Here! T: Great. Lets welcome. (2 pairs of students show their conversation.)T: Well done! You really did a good job!
