(Section A 1a-2c). The topic of the unit is “Order Food”. In this lesson students will learn how to order food in English and use “would like” to express their need for food. It can improve their abilities of using English and cultivate their cross-culture awareness. Part II. Analysis of the StudentsThe students of Grade Seven have great memory and imitation, but they cant express themselves in English freely. They thirst for knowledge and expression, but some of them have no interests and no confidence about English. So it may be difficult for them to finish some tasks. In order to improve their interests and confidence, I designed some suitable tasks. The students can communicate with each other and finish the tasks together. Part III. Teaching Aims1. Knowledge aims: To master the vocabulary of food and the use of “would like” To learn how to order food(kind and size)To master the use of countable nouns and uncountable nouns2. Ability aims: To train the abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writingTo improve the ability of communication with each other 3.Emotional aims: To make students experience the happiness of learning English and cultivate their ability of cooperation in groups.To pay attention to the differences between eastern and western eating culture,and know more about Chinese traditional food. To have a healthy eating habit and do something for their parents.Part IV. Teaching Content and Processes1. Teaching content(1). Language Function: Order food.(2). Vocabulary:would like, small/ medium/ large, noodles, beef, cabbage, special, dumpling, etc.(3). Target Language:A: What would you like?B: Id like some noodles.A: What kind of noodles would you like?B: Id like beef and tomato noodles, please.A: What size bowl of noodles would you like? B: Id like a large / medium / small bowl of noodles.(4). Teaching Key Points and Difficult PointsKey Points: To master the key vocabulary and target language to order food.To master the use of “would like”Difficult Points: To use “would like” to express their need for food and how to order food in English freely.Reason: The students want to talk about the topic freely, they need these new words and expressions .If they dont master them well, it will be difficult for them to talk about the topic. So the key vocabulary and target language are very important.2. Teaching Methods and Learning Strategies(1) Teaching Methods:During my teaching, I use Task-based approach and situational approach. Combining the teaching contents, I design some tasks that are closer to the Ss life. The situational teaching is throughout the whole class. All the activities attract them to participate actively. The students learn in the real situations and finish tasks by having a discussion, communication, cooperation in groups. The prospective teaching aims have been reached by the teaching methods. And the students study in a happy and relaxing atmosphere.(2) Learning Strategies:Work in groups: According to the tasks I designed, I divide the students into groups with six students. Then they can discuss and cooperate in groups. It is good for all the students. They can help each other and make progress together.Learn by themselves: Let students learn more by themselves and learn from their classmates and teachers.Cultivate abilities: By listening, speaking, reading, writing, discussing, making a survey, finishing tasks to cultivate the students communicative ability and expand their ability of thinking.(3) Teaching Procedures:Teaching procedures Teaching designsPurposes of the designsStep1.Warm up(Lead-in by the movie about noodles)Show the students a movie and give them some easy questions. T: Who is the actor? Whats he doing now?Ss: Hes Jacky Chan. Hes making noodles.T:Would you like some noodles?Ss:Yes.T:Then lets learn “Unit 8 Id like some noodles.”Easy questions and the movie can create the relaxing atmosphere and attract their interests.Step 2. Presentation(Learn the new vocabulary and target language)Show some pictures of food and present target language: “What would you like?” “What kind of vegetables/ fruit/ meat/ drinks would you like?” Then help Ss answer.Pictures make students understand the new words more easily. Guide Ss to practice the vocabulary and structure in pairs.Pairwork helps students master the new vocabulary well. Memory gameShow the pictures quickly and ask Ss to say them as quickly as they can.Game is interesting and it can check if Ss master the new vocabulary.Step 3. Grammar focus(Countable nouns and uncountable nouns)Show the pictures of food and ask Ss to read them.Guide Ss to discuss which are countable and which are uncountable in groups.Weve learnt countable nouns and uncountable nouns, so they can learn by themselves by discussing in groups.Step 4.Practiceand presentthe kind of noodles(Complete Section A1a 1b 1c)Show the picture and help Ss match the words (Complete Section A 1a) and describe the special noodles. T: My friend goes to a noodle house. There are three special noodles, and can you match the vegetables and meat with the special noodles? With the picture Ss can complete 1a easily and describe special noodles correctly.Guide Ss to listen and complete SectionA1b T: Can you guess what kind of noodles would my friend like? Lets listen and check the noodles that my friend orders.(1b)Listening practice can train Ss ability of listening.Show 4 special noodles and guide Ss to ask and answer in pairs about the kind of noodles they would like(Complete Section A 1c)A: What kind of noodles would you like?B: Id likenoodles. Pairwork practice helps Ss learn the target language well.Step 5.Practiceand presentthe size bowl of noodles(Complete Section A2a 2b)Show 3 bowls of noodles: small/ medium/ large, guide Ss to ask and answer in pairs about the size bowl of noodles they would like. A: What size bowl of noodles would you like?B: Id like a size bowl.From the kind of noodles to the size bowl of noodles, Ss can learn how to order noodles.Show the picture and guide Ss to complete Section A 2a 2b.T: Now listen to the tape and check the foods you hear.(2a)(Ss can check on the computer.)T: Then please listen again and fill in the blanks. (2b) (Ss can fill on the computer.)Listening practice in task-based teaching requires Ss to grasp the key words. It is a good strategy for listening.Step 6. Task 1 Make a surveyAsk Ss to make a survey in groups and fill in the chart on computer then report to class.“What kind of noodles would you like?”“What size bowl of noodles would you like?”Like this: XX would like a bowl of noodles.The task makes Ss use target language freely and know more about their classmates.Step 7. Task 2 Role playAsk Ss to work in groups. One person is the waiter, the others are the customers.Give them the menu and
