Fun with English 8A Unit 8 Grammar (1)说 课 稿Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. I come from Gaoming Middle School. Today I am much honored to stand here to talk about the topic “Grammar of Unit8 on page 97”. I will divide the instruction into seven parts: they are the teaching content, teaching aims, teaching important and difficult points, teaching methods and aids, teaching procedures, blackboard design and summary.Part 1 The teaching contentThe topic is selected from Fun with English 8A Unit 8. The teaching content is from Page 97. The main idea of the topic is how to use the past continuous tense to talk about things that were happening for some time in the past. This part concludes not only grammar, but also developing the students abilities of speaking and writing . Part 2 Teaching aims: Knowledge aims:1. To learn to use past continuous tense to talk about things that were happening for some time in the past.2. To learn to use special questions, general questions with past continuous tense.Ability aims: To improve the students speaking and writing skills. Emotion aims:To let the students communicate with each other and care for others.Part 3 Teaching important and difficult pointsImportant points: 1. Words: break2. Phrases: break down because of3.Sentences: I was (not) sleeping at 10 p.m. last night. My dads car broke down because of the cold weather.Difficult points: The structures and usages of past continuous tense.Part 4 Teaching methods and aids 1. Teaching methods: In this class, Ill use the following methods.l Question and answer activity teaching method l Free discussion method of teachingl Situational method of teachingl Inductive method of teachingl Task-based teaching method2. Teaching aidsl Multimedia The blackboardPart 5 Teaching proceduresActivity One Lead-in Step One Sing a songLet the students sing a song named“ Monkey, monkey, what are you doing?”after the tape.(Purpose: To arouse the students interest of study and lead in the present continuous tense. )Step2 Have a free talk according to the PPT. Show three pictures to review the present continuous tense, and lead in the past continuous tense. Use these sentences “What is the woman doing now? She is walking now? What was the woman doing just now? She was walking just now.” as a model. And write the following sentences on the blackboard. 1. She was singing at 9 oclock yesterday evening. 2. We are reading books from 7 to 8 yesterday morning. 3. They were chatting at this time yesterday. (Purpose: To review the present continuous tense and lead in the past continuous tense. )Activity Two Learn past continuous tense.Step One Read some sentences with past continuous tenseStep Two Work out the rules of past continuous tenseUsages: 过去进行时表示_过去某一时刻正在发生的动作, 也可表示过去某一阶段一直在进行的动作。Structures: _was / _were_+ V-_ing_.The phrases of time used in past continuous tense:A certain moment in the pastA period of time in the pastat seven last nightat that timeat that momentat this time yesterdayfrom 3:00 to 4:00 yesterday afternoonthose daysStep Three PracticeFill in the blanks using the correct forms of the verbs. Ill give the students four sentences, and let them finish the exercises by themselves. Then let them check the answers in groups and find out the phrases of time used in past continuous tense. (Purpose: To master and apply past continuous tense. )Step Four Work out the rules of the negative sentences and general questions with past continuous tense.First Ill play a guessing game.One student chooses a picture, and asks the other students using the dialogue as a model to guess what he or she was doing.Model: A: Was he ?B: No, he wasnt. A: What was he doing?B: He was . (Purpose: To master and apply past continuous tense through the game.) 2. Let the students work out the rules of the negative sentences and general questions with past continuous tense.过去进行时的否定形式是: wasnt / werent + v-ing , 一般疑问句是将 was / were 调到主语前面。3. PracticeFill in the blanks using the correct forms of the verbs. Here are three sentences for the students. Let them complete them and tell us the rules of past continuous tense. (Purpose: To consolidate past continuous tense. )Activity Three Complete the conversation on P97.A snowstorm hit Sunshine Town. Mr. Wu is asking the students about it. Complete their conversation with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. Step One Let the students finish the conversation by themselves.Step Two Check the answers in groups.Stop Three The teacher writes the phrases “break down and because of ” on the blackboard and explains the usages of them.Step Four Let the students read the conversation in roles and act out.Activity Four SummaryHello, everyone, we have learned something about past continuous tense. Can you tell me the usages and structures of past continuous tense?Now Ill give them one minute to sum up the rules. Ask the students to finish the exercises on the students workbook on P83. 2. Preview Part B of Grammar. Part Six Blackboard design.Ill write the word “break”, the phrases “break down, because of ” on the left of the blackboard, write the sentences “I was (not) sleeping at 10 p.m. last night. My dads car broke down because of the cold weather.” on the right of the blackboard.
