Encourage Ss to describe their own DIY jobs.Methods: Problem-Based Learning methodLearning procedures:一、 头脑风暴 激活思维 导入新课Warm-upT: Hello, everyone. You look so lovely and happy today. Now lets enjoy a video first.Lead-inT: Whats the video about? Yes, its about DIY. Now Id like you to have a brain storm: What DIY jobs did you catch in the video? If you get one, just stand and say. S: T: You are active, and you did a very good job. You got paper DIY, picture DIY, food DIY, cloth DIY, plant DIY, sweater DIY, cup DIY and so on. DIY is becoming more and more popular in our daily lives now. I love DIY too because I enjoy making something new. Guess: What DIY job do I love?S: T: Great! You are right. I love sweater DIY. Look! Its my DIY picture. Do you want to have a look at my sweater DIY? (展示实物)Is it beautiful? Thank you. I think Im good at DIY. Do you think so? 二、拓展问题 训练思维 解读文本. Pre-readingT: However, childrens DIY jobs are quite different from mine. Today, lets get to know Andrews DIY jobs. Who is Andrew? S: .T: Yes, hes Suzys cousin. He is crazy about DIY, that is, he loves DIY very much. So Suzy wrote an article named My cousin and DIY(让学生回答). First, lets have a prediction: Is Andrew good at DIY? . While-reading1. Fast readingT: (P44)How many paragraphs are there in the article? Now read through the article quickly and silently, and then tell me how many parts they can be divided into? Whats the main idea of each part? And how to divide the text ? S: . T: Yes, 3 parts. How to divide? Para1 is Part1, Para2-4 are Part2, and the last one is Part3. What is the main idea of each part? (引导学生说出)The first part is the introduction, the second is about Andrews DIY stories, and the third part is about Suzys advice.(师板书:课文结构)2. Careful reading Para1: Introduction T: Read Para1 carefully and get to know the information: Who? What? How?PPT: Who? 呈现Suzys cousin Andrew What? 呈现DIY. T: What is DIY in your opinion? S: .T: What is Andrews DIY here? 生答,同时呈现repair things & decorate his houseT: How?Ss: Terrible.T: What does “terrible” mean? Guess!S: Bad.T: How do you know?(引导学生找到关键词but, 培养学生语境中理解生词的阅读策略;再要求学生在第二部分找出其余三处but,点出Andrew不善于DIY,呼应读前预测。)T: Read through the second part with the question: What DIY jobs did Andrew do? Paras2-4: Andrews DIY stories DIY Story1: Putting in a brighter lightT: Expanding questions(读前拓展思维):When do you need to put in a new light?Who puts in the light in your family, your parent or you?S: (发散思维中的相似性思考:小组讨论,按照生活经验给出各种答案) T: Here, who put in the light? What problem did he cause? Now listen to the tape, and try to catch the information we need. S: He made a mistake. His whole house had a power cut.T: He did something wrong, his whole house became dark because there was no power. That is, his house had a power cut. (情境中讲解生词made a mistake,had a power cut,带读)DIY Story2: Putting up a pictureT: Did you once put up a picture? I think its a little easy, and we often do it ourselves. But unluckily, what problem did Andrew cause when he did it? S: He hit a pipe and filled the room with water. T: The room was full of water. Its so terrible.(情境中讲解生词pipe,filled the room with water,带读)DIY Story3: painting the living room T: Now, the room is so terrible. But did Andrew stop his DIY job? S: No. He went on painting the living room.T: What mistake did he make? And what was the problem?S: The room has not only blue walls but also a blue ceiling and floor. ( Whats the opposite of the floor? Its the ceiling.) (情境中讲解生词not only but also,ceiling,带读) T: Expanding question(拓展思维):Now everything is blue, even his cat is blue. What would Andrew say to his mother? Use your imagination and make up a new dialogue. You can discuss in groups and work in pairs. 对话如下: Andrew: Mum, I think is boring. I want to paint it blue.Mum: OK. But be careful!( Half an hour later, Mother comes in.)Mum: Stop it. Andrew: Mum, let me keep on painting.Mum: Oh, my god! Look! The room has not only but also . Even your cat is blue now.Andrew: (发散思维中的相异性思考:小组讨论,鼓励学生仁者见仁,智者见智,给出肯定或否定的答案) DIY Story4: putting up a shelfDIY jobmistakeproblemT: Andrew is crazy about DIY. He not only decorated his own house, but also put up a shelf in Suzys room. But is he really helpful? (引导学生完成表格)T: Expanding questions(拓展思维):How long does it usually take a worker to put up a shelf?(相似性思考:培养学生的直觉思维)Why did Andrew spend so much time putting up the shelf?(相异性思考:从多种角度分析,做出推断,给出各自看法)S: T: We have learned 4 DTY stories of Andrew.
